All the digihome clones at our local tescos here in Sunny Kent have got the freeview playback logo on the box.

I wonder if our update on the 20th is going to give us the playback software?

Fingers crossed.

Our local Tesco are now selling the 160gb model badged Technika (their own make), with Freeview Playback, for £129.95. But the software version seems to be (I think if I remember correctly) something like 1.1.25. Hmmm................

Hi,

Got one of the Techwood 80GB PVR (£90) from local Tesco yesterday. Has Freeview Playback logo on box. Does twin record! Software v 2.4. Nice piece of kit.

You should also find the EPG always stays nicely up to date, unlike the T810 based PVRs. Nice to see the price hasn't rocketed for the T816 units. Does it offer accurate recording (i.e. recordings set via the EPG are shown as "Event" record type when editing the timer via the timers screen)? I'm guessing not as although I never tested v2.4, v1.9 and v3.0-3.4 do not have this feature, so technically they don't adhere to the Freeview Playback spec yet. Here's hoping it is implemented in the v3.7 update.

Don't worry clovelly. I will look for myself, but thanks for keeping us informed. Just been and bought one from tesco for £90. Twin record straight out of box. Your right it is a nice piece of kit. 816 on the bottom. Series link is meant to come on group 2 freeview playback update within a fiew months of playback launch, so lets keep our fingers crossed. epg nice and fast. txt works nice and fast. Digihome can go upstairs now. the extra 32mb on board obviously makes all the difference.

For those interested, I've now made the T816 section at http://pvrbugs.futaura.co.uk/ public - may give you a little heads up of what to expect in v3.7 compared to v2.4, although currently I'm still testing v3.4 so hopefully there is more to come. Vestel are aware of all issues listed there (some of which have been fixed, as indicated, and some not). Personally, I'm hoping the 30 second skip buttons have returned, since the current 2 minute skip buttons suck a bit.

Oh, and if you wish to report issues there, please wait until you have v3.7 (to avoid potentially wasting your time ).

Did anyone manage to get the download on their T816, and have there been any noteable updates?

I'm looking to replace my T810 with a T816, but I'll wait for a proper Freeview Playback box if they're not up-to-scratch.

I've no idea about series link in 3.7 - however, it's not in 3.4 though.

Any idea what software would this have on it ?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TECHWOOD-80GB-...QQcmdZViewItem

Would the software upgrade to include the freeview series link set up ?

I'd suspect that these are T816 as the earlier T810s weren't labelled with freeview playback. As they currently stand, they won't have series link setup, unless an OAD gets released.
The latest version of software is 3.7. There have been discussions on these forums which indicate that the T816 may not get any more updates - however maybe someone somewhere can get hold of later software? The Sharp version of the T816 uses software later than 3.7, and that does include series link.

You could always ask the seller to look at the white label on the side of the packaging, that'll indicate the software version.
