It'll be a shame if a couple do do it, the girl will be labelled a slag and the bloke ridiculed for various other reasons, its a no win situation for any housemate to be in, only the papers will win with their coverage - which is always the case.

If there are any BB4 contestants lurking here DON'T DO IT!!!
At least not for the Sun anyway, what they acutally seem to be offering is £25k each, dependant on an interview with them when they get out. Jade got £250k for her press deal last year so I think it is safe to say that the first people to have sex on BB will get a great deal more that £25k each from the papers. |

I suppose the S*n can get out of it by saying that the money is for the prostituting couple to tell their story, not for them to have sex. But yes, it does all stink a bit doesn't it. However all it means is that the S*n have first bid, and for example the Mirror could offer them 70,000GBP NOT to have sex, or not tell their story, or something. Euuuchh, the whole thing reeks. Could taint this year's BB. BB itself will have to introduce a rule banning discussion of this.

The sun's usual fall back imo(paedophiles) has been worn out a little lately and poor Rebekah Wade is probably tearing her pretty hair out trying to think of a filler.... |

No-one could be stupid enough to do it though, could they? Imagine the stigma they would carry all through their lives... mind you, remembering some of the repulsive stuff that found it's way on camera on The Club, perhaps I shouldn't be so optimistic!
BTW, does anyone know who won The Club? It's just occurred to me that I (fortunately) forgot to stop watching it, and it must be over now, I would think?!

And they are hoping to do a teenage version of Big Brother!
I know this could be very cynical of me to say this but we all know that horrible paper is one of Big Brothers biggest supporters, by advertising such a thing it will only get people discussing Big Brother and help to boost the viewing for the show, to let everyone know that Big Brother is here and get the viewing public to discuss it more so because of the announcement they have made. Not everyone has access to a computer, not everyone will be on the net, so this is great advertisement for the programme as now everyone will be discussion this issue at work or with neighbours. I think personally think it is sick and I hope no one will do it. But with the publicity coming from France about a certain English girl and the noise it made in all the papers I have the horrible prediction that unfortunately it could very well be on the cards, (I hope I am wrong) that Big Brother may have its first sexual encounter. Don’t forget guys, those psychologists whom study the behaviours of the Big Brother contestants, also monitor us the viewers we are very much part of this gold fish bowl, we are being studied to see how we react to the housemates, to any of the fights in the house or encounters that may occur. By the way we vote and the way discuss the housemates in forums like Digital Spy, is also being monitored and the stats taken from observations we make here will probably be compared to those conducted in other countries to find any similarities and difference between viewing public of different countries, each test done to the housemates to see how they react like bringing down barriers between groups is also test to see how we behave to these changes. A sexual encounter or a huge fight will be just another way to see how we will react. |

the Sun are really spoiling it by trying to be part of the programme. THere will definitely be housemates who this would influence but if they do do it then I dont think they will be in the house much longer (voted out). Its just seedy.
It would be interesting to know how well `bonkers` have done in the show in other countries. I know a `bonker` won it in Hungary (Eva) but she seemed to be a sort of completely natural exhibitionist. Apart from her I would expect `bonkers` to be shown the door quick (Andrew on BB1 would have probably been up for it etc) Bad PR by the Sun. Big Brother is ours, not theirs. |

Fortunately, the Sun has never really understood Big Brother to any consistent degree, hence the pro-Bubble fiasco, while he never even got near the final 3...

I don't know...are we perhaps getting a bit precious about sex? A couple meet, spend up to 9 weeks together, and end up having sex together - well, it's hardly the first date, is it?? By this point, we've already seen them eating like pigs, drunk, washing undies, showering, and asleep; it's just another everyday activity.
Perhaps if we think it's shocking, we shouldn't be looking - after all, if it was your neighbour and you peered through their bedroom window, you'd be arrested, no matter how much you argued that they had invited you to look by leaving their curtains open. I would have thought it was more radical to get your kit off and smear body paint over the walls on the first day like they did in BB1, or have enemas and show off your waste like Celebrity Sh*t Club (or whatever it's called). Personally, I would like to see us overcome this taboo and move on. They should play more music in the house to get them in the mood. *That's the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I like it, uh-huh, uh-huh.* |

It seems the sun stunt to get attention is going to back fire on them - or any publicity is good publicity?
Gays attack Sun's 'homophobic' Big Brother offer Claire Cozens Tuesday May 20, 2003 The Sun has come under fire from gay rights groups after it restricted an offer of £50,000 for the first Big Brother contestants to have sex on TV to heterosexual couplings. ..... "We think it's bizarre the Sun is excluding lesbian and gay people from their contest. Brian and Anna, two previous gay and lesbian contestants, topped the competition and their subsequent media careers have been strong compared with other straight contestants who have sunk without a trace," said Sacha Deshmukh, Stonewall's director of parliamentary affairs. I can't see it making any difference at all.
If any two housemates make themselves eligible for this bounty that I don't think it will have been an influence. Most likely it will be down to alcohol, hormones or withdrawel! It'd be an interesting chat on the sofa.... "Fancy making 50 grand with me tonight?" "May as well, I'm really bored"

When I heard the no-gay clause on the news this morning it sounded like a big PR boob to me. They are encouraging pointless sex between 2 people who will probably be exhibitionist nuisances who grow to dislike each other and are both disliked by the public, yet at the same time take whats perceived as a homophobic stance in this day and age. Very bad PR. Im not bothered if 2 folk do it. It just depends on the relationship between the 2. Pj & Jade last year was really seedy and cringey. Andrew on BB1 was seedy and got a bit of a shock at his nomination and even more at his eviction haha. On the other hand, the building up of the relationship between Mel and Tom was really something special, and I think all that ended up with was a peck on the lips when Tom(?) got evicted. The Sun are just watching the same is us. I dont want them to influence the housemates behaviour. Its arrogant of them. |

Look...I don't know if any of you are aware of this but there is already an enormous industry based on watching people have sex.....Some of you may even know someone who has watched a video of the said act or known someone who has asked to borrow a tape.....People being paid to have sex is also apparently a very old profession....almost as old as mugging.....
On the other hand.....Got to disagree with the Sun...especially their homophobic approach.....that's what's disgusting in this whole sorry business...... |

Everyone here is angry with the sun and rightly so, yet most will go out and buy the paper. Personally I have never read it nor do I ever intend to. If people feel so strongly about the paper then don't buy it. They have always been known for sick reporting, why peopel think they will ever change is beyond me. The more the public buy the paper, the more it will stay in circulation. It is the publics fault for the Sun's success, if people stopped buying it then it would have to change or disband but at the moment it is making millions and for every sick story they write then it is the public to blame not the newspaper.

I don't want BB to mutate into porno though! I mean, commercial porn is honest; it is what it is, nobody is under any illusions, the participants get paid, and it's their job!
The idea of people having sex to win a gameshow, however, is pretty abhorrent, esp. when their family and friends will be watching... It also has the potential to be massively abusive (whatever I do/don't like about Jade, the PJ moment was one of the most unpleasant aspects of BB, of all time, to me!), and the consequences of whatever might happen to them when they go out are horrifying - hell, Tim has had to leave the UK for being a bit annoying! The idea that a newspaper may appear to be promoting scuzzy TV like this is horrible. |

If I had to pay I wouldnt read it.Everyone here is angry with the sun and rightly so, yet most will go out and buy the paper. The point I was making was, they are trying to influence the behaviour of contestents on a show I like. Hijacking. Its not even about the sex really. I never saw BB2 but I wonder why Paul didnt persuade Helen to have sex with him? Maybe he decided that in the long term he would be better to wait til after the show so as to make the bond more potentially long-lasting, I dunno. Paul & Helen seemed to capture the publics imagination. Im sure theyve had unwed sex loads of times since. compare that to PJ & Jade? The next morning? Its no big deal. Its the Sun trying to influence behaviour and sort of ingratiate itself into being part of Big Brother thats annoying. And I agree that anything looking for sex can find tons of the stuff on the net so it isnt particularily for sex that we watch big brother and so far we have seen almost zero sex(????) and we still love Big Brother.. ps and just to add an explanation to the sentence `why didnt Paul persuade Helen`.... the reason I said persuade is because if someones giving £50,000 I would expect the guy to speed things up a bit (not neccessarily) and also, in Paul and Helens case in particular, I would have thought Helen was up for it but too polite to be the one to ask altho I dunno cos I never saw BB2 haha

BB is voyeuristic in its own nature... but watching some HM bonking as part of a manipulative exercise from the press or the HM themselves is not the reason I tune into the program. Sex is part of human nature and if it came to it, well... no big deal. Their sex orientation isn't relevant either. The Sun got it wrong as always.
The problem IMO is that Brits don't have the same easy going approach about sex as other countries, and thinking how this will be replayed in the press and the effects this will have for the concerned and their families makes me cringe and I do hope they don't follow that route. So far we have enjoyed BB without these gimmicks. |
