Opening Night Mistake??

What went wrong with the stage last night?

They mentioned it on GMTV this morning.

They have a revolving section in teh centre of the stage which has a camel, among other things come out and go round in a circle on it.

This bit is when Joseph's brothers sell him as a slave - the rich Egyptian on a camel comes out of the revolving stage, joseph is tied to the back and goes off. Apparently the revolving bit broke last night so the camel didn't come out, which pretty much buggered the rest of the scene....

I think part of their problem is using ancient stage machinery. On Thursday the front moving wings jammed and then buckled to block the stage off so they had to perform the second half in front of the curtains.

The show must go on eh?

Not the best for technical stuff though, warm and generally most seats dont have a great view.

Ah, the Palace. My home from home when Les Miz was there.

Now that is a technical show and they had VERY few problems during the 20 year run there. Infact one of the few problems happened the first time I saw the show when the stage right portion of the barricade got stuck and wouldn't slide off, meaning that the bridge couldn't come down onto the stage for Javert's suicide. They had to stop the show for that.

But generally I find the Palace a good theatre (and it has had a bit of a refurb - saw Spamalot there last year).
