I intend to buy a Nokia N95. VOIP provider, Truphone allows free or near free phone calls from an N95 plus other phones which can connect to Wifi hotspot.

However, Vodafone have removed the internet telephony option from N95s which they sell. You need internet telephony to make Turphone calls.

I want to buy an unbranded unlocked SIM free N95 with internet telephony setting reatined and then use it with my current Vodafone SIM card. Can I then make Truphone calls at Wifi points with my Vodafone SIM card?

Thanks, confused of North London !

Hi, you can still get a vodafone branded phone for Voip, when you get it, change the product code to a generic one, update the software to version 12 (which is the latest at the mo) that will remove all the programme locks vodafone have put on it, just search google for how to change the product code.

I had a Orange branded phone and debranded it and now use voip and also runs much faster without all the operators crap on it!

Hope it helps

Thanks ever so much for the advice.

Found what I am looking for.

If you do this, is VOIP internet telephony restored to the N95? What VOIP service do you use? Do Orange charge you at all. Truphone sounds the one to me !

Thats the exact guide i followed, i use Truphone, there is a guide on how to install it on Youtube:

I only ever use it at home via my Wlan wireless connection, or in hotspots around london, orange cant charge me as to use Wlan on the phone is Free.

And yes to answer you other question it does restore the facility when you debrand your phone.
