If members are really interested then they can find Calrissian's column at the top of the page.... it's prominent enough!!! ”

does it matter?
It's a great idea, and I dont see what the problem is.

Besides which, you'll probably have to use the first night anyway, as you're bound to get people not using the timescale criteria you've given. Some will probably use the judgement they've made in the first few hours, letting you know later on that they based their judgement from --car to front door--when they didn't in truth.
”

That's true...there's quite a risk of contamination....should someone wish to prove they are a good judge of character they could meddle with there results......

Meanwhile I've come up with an experiment.....Take a large group of women (I'd prefer 300) and split them into 3 groups.....They'd all be given pictures of 6 identical looking men...3 of whom are firemen....Group A: Would told who the firemen were....Group B: Would be told the ones who were not firemen were firemen and Group C: Is my control group who wouldn't be told anything.......Then I'd ask them just from the pictures who they thought looked the most honest and genuine and who they though had the better personality........My aim is to prove that believing someone is a fireman would actually affect there how that person is viewed.............I call it the "Jonnie test"....

Nice idea cal...

It seems we have our very own BB wannabees right here - jealousy when someone else is in the spotlight...shocking behaviour from those two...manners don't cost much (I just know I'm going to regret that later in the series!!!)

Whether we like it or not - I imagine that we all make first impressions within seconds...it will be interesting to see how long it takes to shake that first impression or whether indeed it can be removed completely.

how are you supposed to have an opinion of someone from walking from a car,up some stairs and to a door ? unless they attack someone on the way or get lippy to the bouncers you'll have no clue.

at least you've got to give them five minutes to hate their silly voice or something

I think the point is to see how ones opinions change from immediate first impressions.

I'll have a go, nothing to lose and it will be interesting to see if my first impressions were right..

I'm usually very non commital, willing to give them time to settle so this will make me 'Focus' as someone once said.

I think the point about us having first impreesions is because they can change numerous times the first night let alone over over the weeks.
For example.
Girl no 2 exits the car looking stunning, blonde, big boobs and perfect teeth.
Your first impression is " phoar"..
On entering the house girl no 2 speaks....
It turns out she has the most awful voice you have ever heard. She sounds like a cross between a yorkshire miner and a bull terrier.
She laughs like a strangled hyena and has this irritating habit of flicking her hair everytime she speaks.
Does your first impression change?

Hmm, if only i had the time (oh to have 300 women indeed at my disposal

RE: timeline.

i really gave it some serious though. Do i pick the whole evening ? or the first hour, or just 1min ?

You are correct of course, some people may well, take into account what happens AFTER they enter the house, and frankly that is the biggest problem. However, i am just making do as best i could.

Why not the first 3 hours once they are inside the house ? Well, i want people to judge the housemates BEFORE they start interacting with eachother, and before they enter the insane house - both factors of which will influence the housemates.
---------
So, i realise its VERY far from sound. I really just after some initial comments, and then some follow up later on as things progress.

I guess this will be ironically, the most uncontrolled mini-experimental questionnaire i've ever done ( and i've done oh so many).
I am relying upon the forum members to stick within the timeline.
---------------------
Anything can be considered ( hm's audition tape will probably feature ) in the assessment in tonights show up until THEY STEP foot inside the house. THEN the person should decide which on the 5 views best applies.
----------------------

Anyway..... enjoy the show.

I like the idea,....but.........

......and it's quite a big but -- from the car to the front door? -- everything in between that timescale?-----

Do you really think that people gather much of a first impression of somebody in that time?
”

If any of the women are wearing short skirts or any of the guys have a funny walk, they'll be labled before they even get through the front door.

One of them is bound to have a weird walking style
And they'll be condemned for the next 9 weeks of their stay (or maybe just a few hours if the same day eviction rumour is true)

Perhaps some FM's don't like to be organised, preferring forums to take their natural course.
I'm sure there will be a few threads started with regards first impressions and if they're not popular they will just disappear off the page.

thats not really the point though is it - calrissian isn't trying to manipulate the shape fo teh forum...simply trying to conduct an experiment...I know I've talked to several people on MSN who are filling the questionnaire in yet they haven't posted in this thread...they wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't highlighted.

besides...we've got a fully paid up shrink examining and writing articles for us in the name of calrissian...thats gotta be a good thing...the forum will take its natural course...just think of this as an added extra

...but how do we know if he's a good shrink or a bad one?
He could still be talking bollocks like the rest of us.

No offense Cal.
