IPod generations

Ok, so I'm looking for some help.
I'm after a video ipod, preferably 60gb, but id have 40gb. Looking to spend about £150, but its not a strict limit.

My main question is:
Whats the difference between the different generations?
At the moment, I have a 4th gen ipod, and its alright, but its about two and a half years old and its starting to freeze up a lot and make a clicking sound when it doesnt like my music!

So is it really important that I go for the newer generation ones, or is there not much difference?

Thanks in advance!

There is only 1 generation newer than yours - the 5th gen ipod which comes in both black and white and either 30gb or 80gb.
There was a spec upgrade which gave them a better battery life and brighter display - it was the '5.5' gen ipod.

For your budget, you can't get the 30gb ipod new. Just have a look on ebay for a video ipod.
