Playing IPod videos on a TV
Sorry if this has been covered, but I'm new to IPods, and just discovering how amazing they are.
Having installed videos onto my 80GB IPod, is there a device or attachment I can buy that will let me play these through my TV set? Thanks in advance for any information. |

You need one of THESE leads. Available form Ebay as per the link or most high street electrical stores, I'd guess. I have one for my i-pod.

Thanks Beachball....I already bought a similar one (it's an AV adaptor, for use with 30GB and 60(?)GB IPods....). Maybe it's incompatible, but it doesn't do a thing when I connect it to my TV. I was hoping there was something better out there.....?

It should work for yours, the output is the same.
Check the settings on your ipod. Videos->Video Settings->TV Out, change to ON or ASK. Also check thee tv signal is PAL and correct widescreen setting. |

OK, did that...thanks for the advice. Now I can get it to play a video on my TV.....but it's in black/white and with no sound! Quality is slightly poor as well. I'll keep messing around with it, and I might get it to come good. Thanks again.

I got one of those cables for my iPod video and got the same results: a very poor black and white video, the sound was OK though.
I've had similar when using composite video from my laptop to TV. I believe that the apple universal doc has an s-video connector on the back, this should provide a better picture, but I have not got one so I am unable to confirm this. The universal dock will also allow you to use the apple remote. |

The iPod only plays fairly low resolution video files which won't look great once scaled up onto a large TV. VCD/SVCD is about the level they achieve. Slightly better than VHS but not as good as DVD. |
