Playing IPod videos on a TV

Sorry if this has been covered, but I'm new to IPods, and just discovering how amazing they are.

Having installed videos onto my 80GB IPod, is there a device or attachment I can buy that will let me play these through my TV set?

Thanks in advance for any information.

You need one of THESE leads. Available form Ebay as per the link or most high street electrical stores, I'd guess. I have one for my i-pod.

Thanks Beachball....I already bought a similar one (it's an AV adaptor, for use with 30GB and 60(?)GB IPods....). Maybe it's incompatible, but it doesn't do a thing when I connect it to my TV. I was hoping there was something better out there.....?

It should work for yours, the output is the same.

Check the settings on your ipod.
Videos->Video Settings->TV Out, change to ON or ASK.
Also check thee tv signal is PAL and correct widescreen setting.

OK, did that...thanks for the advice. Now I can get it to play a video on my TV.....but it's in black/white and with no sound! Quality is slightly poor as well. I'll keep messing around with it, and I might get it to come good. Thanks again.

I got one of those cables for my iPod video and got the same results: a very poor black and white video, the sound was OK though.

I've had similar when using composite video from my laptop to TV.

I believe that the apple universal doc has an s-video connector on the back, this should provide a better picture, but I have not got one so I am unable to confirm this. The universal dock will also allow you to use the apple remote.

Don't expect miracles on picture quality from the iPod .... espcially if you're connecting it to a high resolution, large screen, TV.

The iPod only plays fairly low resolution video files which won't look great once scaled up onto a large TV.

VCD/SVCD is about the level they achieve. Slightly better than VHS but not as good as DVD.
