I have recently purchased a PS3 which I have linked to a Panasonic HD tv through the HDMI cable. However I am at a loss as to how get the PS3 linked to my home Cinema system.

I have a Panasonic SC HT 990 system, the PS3 booklet recommends an optical cable which I bought but then realised the Panny home cinema has no port to receive it.

Any ideas as it's great watching blu-ray movies but would love the sound. By the way the TV is a Panasonic TH-42PC70. Help

You don't say what your "home cinema" system is.

But to answer your question, you need an amplifier with an Optical audio input.

I'm not sure what audio options you have on the PS3 (or your home cinema system), but my guess is that it has analogue audio outputs too, (left & right stereo), you can connect these to a standard home cinema amplifer for stereo and, if you're lucky, Dolby Surround - but this isn't the same as Dolby Digital/AC3 Surround sound - although perfectly acceptable for many domestic situations.
