I'd expect Westlife to win actually, they have massive selling power. Last year they were placed as outsiders in that big album chart battle with The Beatles and U2 but it was Westlife who made number one.

Not a fan of either, but Westlife are still a big draw.

This could go either way.
Is the Spice Girls Album a greatest hits or new material?
If it's greatest hits I could see a lot of people buying it for the sake of reliving their youth and some even buying mulitiple copies for the sake of "Girl Power".

Not a fan of either group but with the Spice Girls releasing a greatest hits package Westlife will out sell them. They have a huge fan base

westlife are worth less than dirt when comparing them with the greatness that is the **SPICE GIRLS**

however, people are stupid and have zero taste, so westlife have a chance of beating the spice girls

Westlife will definately win this 'battle'.
They have a massive fanbase.
And the Spice Girls fanbase doesn't match up to it.
Plus. A lot of people (like myself) have outgrown the Spice Girls therefore shrinking their fanbase.

Anyone know if the westlife album is yet another album full of covers? I'm sure I read that a few months ago.

Of course it will be gemmaovwales. Forgone conclusion! Pondlife wouldn't know an original song if it came along and slapped them across their smug chops! I honestly thought that they had disbanded (at last!) because they have been very quiet of late. At the very least I thought they might have hidden under a hedge to lick their wounds at the promising come-back of Take That to take their crown! No doubt we will have yet another video featuring mostly Shane and Mark on vocals with the oh-so-familiar turning head to camera with serious frown on their faces of Kian and the other one. Making videos by numbers. I read once how fed up Shane was especially, being forced by Cowell to do covers of Barry Manilow songs (the durge that was Mandy for example) but the poor ickle boy is too scared and too talentless to make it away from the band and has seen how McFadden's career hit the skids pretty damned fast! So it looks like he has no choice but to stay with this tediously boring cash cow for the moment because they are all basically one-trick ponies. The only 2 songs I ever liked by them were Flying without Wings and World of Our Own because in those days they produced good little pop songs. Then they got in to ballad mode and just went downhill really. Every song and video just looked the same.

For somebody who claims to dislike them you sure know a lot. Methinks you protest too much

I actually quite like Westlife, they are good at what they do and if there is one thing I cannot abide it is vacuous music snobbery. We should just let people listen to what they want. Apparently we are all 'supposed' to be listening to bands like the Arctic Monkeys et al but I can't stand that sort of music. It might not make me very 'cool' but so what...i've still got Girls Aloud and Elvis.

I really cannot believe Westlife are still around, I'd very much like to to go away now, infact I wanted them to go away back in 2000.

I am surprised they've lasted so long, churning out one soulless ballad after another.

I think Westlife are good singers. Not great or spectacular, but good all the same.

I thought they were ok when they did their own songs but lost respect when the mountain of covers started piling up.

However, they do seem to tour a good bit and don't cop out on their fans by miming as far as I know. I also respect that since Brian left they have not been famous for their personal lives either, which is a rareity (spelling anyone??) for a pop act of this millenium.

The Spice Girls to me were like Britney or Kylie, a brand and the music was fairly interchangable - they were more famous for being "The Spice Girls" than the songs. Which can kinda be said of Westlife too, but at least they sing well. The Spices have either weak or shouty voices.

I don't rate either as spectacular acts, but I think they serve their audiences well.

I think Westlife would win to be honest. They appeal to all ages. Whereas I don't think the Spice Girls will be that successful second time around.

The girls still have the reunion tour around the WORLD to promote the album whereas Westlife, i thought they disbanded already..
Heard the girls are inviting fans to invite them due to over flooding request for gigs, meaning still lots of people favor them
