SD Card speeds

I would be grateful for some advice on upgrading the SD card in my Camera.
I have a Canon A610 fitted with an SD 512 mb x60 card
(card is from the Innovate professional range)
I would like to upgrade the card to a 2gb x120 one-would this cause any problems for the camera or using it with a p.c.?
Also, does it make any difference what make of card I buy i.e. would it be better to select one from the Innovate range?
Many thanks for any help you can offer!

Unless you use the camera for burst shots (sports footage, motion capture sequences etc) or high quality video footage, you won't really notice any difference using a higher speed card.

The speed capability of the card shouldn't cause the camera any problems, but you might want to check it will accept a 2gb card OK (it should).

Hi Sancheeez-many thanks for your advice-in the end I compromised with a 1gb card and all seems fine!
I have fitted the 1gb SD card but have not wiped the old 512 mb card clean yet-have you any idea how long the stored images on this old card last once it has been removed from camera?
Once again, many thanks for your help!

Should last for years!

No idea what the life expectancy of an SD card is but I imagine it's certainly in years rather than weeks or months.

Why not just stick it back in the camera (or card reader if you don't connect the camera directly) and just whip all the images off it? (onto your PC)
