Hi i just wanted to know if the Samsung U600 has the feature where when your phones off and someone attempts to ring you, you get a text or something when you switch your phone on telling you whos tried to ring you and when. I know this is available on the Samsung D900 so surely it must be available on the U600.

Cheers

I think that's a feature of the network, rather than the phone. Your network sends you the missed call alert when you switch your phone on, so the service would work on any phone that can receive text messages.

It's the network, not your phone. It depends what network you are on.

No problem It's a good thing to use, because it doesn't just tell you the last missed call like 1471 does, it lists all the calls you've missed and the time.

Like

1. 07xxxxxxxx, 1pm
2. 020xxxxxxx 1.21pm
3. 07xxxxxxxx 3.50pm

etc

It also costs the person calling you to hear the message saying you've unavailable, but a text has been sent to let you know they've called.

it would cost the caller anyway so that doesnt make any difference! at least with this you know they have tried to call you! otherwise the charge they incurred would be for nothing!!

Nope, if you have voicemail & call reminder SMS swiched off then callers will hear a free message saying their call cannot be connected.

Really. Shame that you are wrong there!

I don't have voicemail switched on, nor friends and family, nor this sms rubbish, so we and callers to our number don't get charged to hear a message we aren't available or phone switched off etc.

BT has a service where if you miss a call on your landline and get a message left, BT sends you a text. You can listen to the message by dialing home.

Yep, 'brilliant' service.

Costs the caller to leave the message, costs the person with the BT Voicemail service to be sent the text message, then the cost to call home and listen to it, then if they do bother to call back the person who left the message, another charge.

Is it not easier to just go home and check the caller ID on your phone, and give people a call back if you want to. If people need to get you while out and 'bout, they can call your mobile?

No worries, I do have a strange sense of humour, though many people say it's dry, I just think they are talking wet.

Very true.

I have a dedicated voicemail 01... number, if people must leave a message, it's their choice, if they can't contact me on my mobile when out, call my voicemail number and leave a message.

I don't have voicemail switched on on my mobile or home number.

It's already on by default for Vodafone users, the vodafone service is a little different than the o2 one.

Vodafone don't charge for callers to hear you're unavailable, but you can still get alerts.

type *148# on Vodafone to turn the 'call catcher' on

Sorry to bump an old thread but.....

The other half has used the above to get alerts. She now wants to stop them, she has tried ringing the number again but they are still coming through?

How does she stop them?

Thanks.

As widness88 said 1710 is to switch the service on, so she just keeps activing it

It's a bit daft really, O2 should make it just one number for on and off with the option to "press 1" for on and "press 2" for off etc.
