Well I already had an iPod that had 20GB. Last week I bought one with 30GB and can hold videos and photos. However, I assumed a CD to install iTunes would come with it as it did with my last iPod. The place where I bought it gave no indication what version of iTunes was needed for it.

When I connected my new iPod to my laptop it told me I would have to download a iTunes 7 from their website, but I don't have access to the web from my laptop. Is it possible to buy the software on its own?

I do know a few other people who have been "caught out" in this way and would have to return the iPod to the shop. If they really wanted it they would have to fork out another 100quid or so for the extras: software, charger etc.

Why would they have to buy a charger? Plugging the thing in is the charger. And to be fair, the percentage of people not connected to the internet who buy iPods is very small. As a family we've had 3 iPods and none of the discs would have been used. Why do I need the clutter? Even with a disc, how would you install updates or fixes.

Just find a friend to download it and put it on a CD or USB stick for you. You can't buy it in a shop.
