Yeah Vodafone does that too. Even if voicemail is switched on and someone doesnt leave a voicemail you can do *#147# and get the number of the person.

o2 is not for me....lacks services and it takes 48 hours to apply a bolt on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you activate it in the menu settings in your new phone?

But they used to only update once a day (if you were lucky) so try tonight at 7pm and tell me if it has been updated.

As you should know o2 doesnt support delivery reports in that manner.

In order to have a delivery report you have to put *0# before any text in your message

How should I know, I have never read it anywhere, I never used the feature, no one has told me and I don't work for them?

If O2 doesn't have this feature then that is bad I agree.

A agree, The only reason i know was from someone on here, Its not a big advertised thing, Even in the handbook.

I think everyone should leave it. The user doesnt like o2 end of, And the one of the only reasons is 'A BOLT ON TAKES 48 HOURS OH MY ****** G*D

tbh, i dont really like o2, The only reason was because of the amount of texts i use. The balance alerts i turned off and only used delivery reports when i wanted to know, I saved it in a template for easy access.

I just gotta have my say on this!!

I was with O2 for several years before moving to Orange and then to Vodafone.

O2 just don't provide its PAYG customers the services they deserve, its so limited compared to Orange/Voda.

No delivery reports. . . No £5 top up. . . No full internet access. . . Very poor 3G coverage. . . Out of date PAYG tariffs.

I can see where the guy is coming from about the 48hr Bolt on delay. . . why 48hr? Extras on Orange and Packs on Voda are instant!

If you had to wait 48hr before you could use your minutes on a new Pay Monthly contract, you wouldn't be impressed! Thats the point the OP was making, he switched to O2 but had to wait 48hr to get the Minutes/Texts that he wanted to use.

Were you able to read my first post?

In which I said:

So I ported my number out from vodafone to o2. So far I am not impressed and today (after just 48 hours) I requested my pac code to go back to vodafone.

Reasons:

1) Annoying balance after call alert (even if balance hasnt gone down)

2) Lack of signal in key areas

3) Applied a bolt on which may take up to 48 hours to apply!

First you said I said I was being conned and now you say I am leaving over a 48 hour wait for a bolt on! That was not the only reason!

48 hours is too long. I use my phone for business and I use it alot. I cant be running out of minutes and then have to wait 48 hours which in the meantime means I am wasting money.

You may only be texting girlfriend and your mummy, but some of us use a phone for more important things, ie shock horror.....for making important phone calls.

I was basing that from the other posts you made, It seemed the biggest issue for you, which in fair it can be for a lot of people but others dont mind.

So do you think everyone can just be laid back and say yeah its only 48 hours so what. ??

I mean come on, why is it the assumption that if its ok for you its ok for everyone else. And o2 DONT make it obvious before you join about the 48 hour delay.

Not Obvious no, but i wouldnt think they would do. They do provide the advertied bolt on services.

Also their Terms and Conditions say
Quote:
“Your Bolt On(s) will take up to 48 hours to activate. We will send you a text message to confirm when your Bolt On has been activated.”

I would still like to see where i said you were being conned.

After a few weeks of trying o2 I am definitely leaving.

The final straw was when I discovered you can only buy one 50 minute (anytime/anynet) bolt on a month and I make alot more than 50 minutes of calls a month..

Ok so I should have checked before I joined them but I didnt think any network would have such stupid system

i can answer most of that for you
1. ring customer services, ask them to switch the balance alerts off and shock horror, they can and will!!!!!!
2. that could be any network, all networks are patchy in some places, its the nature of the beast, check signal before you port if its that big of a deal
3. ring customer services (if you want the balance alerts off you'll have to anyway) and ask if it can be applied any quicker.

if your phone calls are that important, why not get a contract
theres no need to patronise everyone though

ok lets get this cleared up:
no new answers from me becuase everything you were talking about has been answered accuratly, i was just confirming that the info was correct.

patronise who? Adam D, me to name two.

think you'll find that i know a heck of a lot about phones, so no need to talk down to me.
if you want to leave a network go ahead there is no law saying you have to stay with them

In what way am I patronising you??

Firstly you seem to have a problem with someone voicing discontent with a network...how weird.

Secondly, we are talking about phones not networks, so its really not worth mentioning how much knowledge you say you have.

Thirdly, while we are on the subject I also have knowledge, used to work in the industry, back in early 90s for Realmgate as a accounts manager, then for European Telecom as same, then for Ericsson as a network operations manager, then for NSH - tell me you have used a BGA and can fault find at the level I can. I've only been out of the industry 3 years and still try to keep up with technical developments.

So lets hear about your "heck of alot of knowledge" then.

Hope thats not too patronising for you, but hate it when people assume they know more than me just because they may have unlocked a few phones using software written by others - I was doing eprom dumps and unlocking in 1992 using my own techniques

All this is about is what I believe to be poor performance from the o2 network.

As far as I know delivery reports have never worked on o2 but I could be wrong. Always used to say "pending" but never got the actual delivery message.
