I have a SPDIF audio out on my TV set and was wondering if this can be connected in anyway to the regular white and red Phono sockets on my HiFi to hear the audio. Weather there are any cable converters out there that anyone knows would be great Thanks.

The D in SPDIF stands for DIGITAL. The red and white phonos on your amp are Analogue.

You therefore require a Digital to Analogue converter to interconnect the two. It is not a simple case of finding an adapter lead.

Perhaps the easiest method would be to use a spare SCART on the TV and a SCART to phono lead. Most TVs have the ability to feed whatever is being shown on screen back down at least one SCART along with the audio.

Certainly be cheaper than a D to A converter and one less thing to find a mains socket for!

I think this is what you need - it's quite expensive though

If your TV has a pair of phono outs on the rear you just need to connect these to your hifi - no conversion needed.
