strange problem
hi
ive got a slightly annoyin problem, i wonder if anyone can help me with.... Ive just brought a new phone for one of my bedrooms, (just a cheap binatone gondola style phone) works ok, but strangely enough.... intermitently, when I lift the handset, it causes the cordless phone in the room next door to ring as if there is an incoming call. it happens a lot when I press the hookswitch to start a new call. any idea whats causing this. its no big deal, but Im scared to use the phone at night incase it wakes the people up in the next room! |

there is a problem with your internal wiring, it's a partial loop between the bell wire and the legs of your line. quick fix if you have b/band open all your sockets and disconnect the wire connected to pin 3 (bell wire) the adsl filters do the same function as this so your phones such act normally. if not, then best bet is to get new, sparkys will do it a lot cheaper than if you got your service provider to send us out.

thanks for your reply. my phone line and broadband are both ntl (well virgin now) broadband comes down separate line, so cant be that. I have looked at my phone socket before and there are only 2 wires connected to it. I have got quite a lot of extension (4 phones and 3sky+ boxes) all off 1 main socket so that might of caused the problem. but i seem to of solved it by just moving the phones around, i dont think its doing it any more Quote:
