I was walking around this morning and I saw this TV in a Sony shop for £849. A quick search on the Internet revealed that you can get it for £666 delivered.
Why is it so cheap? Normally Sony 40", HD Ready TV with integrated Freeview hover well above the £1000 mark.
Has anyone got an experience with this particular model?

I think this model is soon to be replaced by the Sony KDL40S3000U, but that didn't stop me from ordering it, saw it in comet £799 found it online £643 plus delivery and it arrives tomorrow !!! I'll let you know more when I've set it up, but it looked pretty good in the shop.

I have always heard that Sony was one of the best brands around, especially for televisions...

Why are they not good? And what brand is in your opinion a better one?

Try this site I used this one before deciding to buy the Sony TV you have mentioned. It has many reviews which may help you choose. Hope you find this helpful, and more helpful than the previous post. http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/

It's just a personal opinion from a Sony hater!

Sony are the number one domestic electronics brand in the UK, in Europe, and probably in the world?.

More researches revealed that I could get a 42" Panasonic plasma for £779!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TH...905365-0635669

Now, you can't go wrong with Panasonic right? My only concern is that it comes from an obscure shop within Amazon/marketplace with which I had problems in the past (not with this specific shop though).
