Well, is he? No proof for this wild statement, but I recall some people mentioned they'd applied and so on. Did anyone get to the final stages?

We know Jon is a big Interner user; he offers it as one of the things he'll miss when in the house. He also dabbled a bit with Usenet whilst at uni... didn't we all... check out his opinions via the link (mostly about British TV comedy, and a bit of Tolkein, from 1995-6).

theres some fantastic comedy material in there. If I could quote:

"Um, sorry if I'm being very dense, but I've never seen any mention of
Numenorean flying machines before. What are they?
Ta,
Jon Tickle"

Jon must stay !!!!!

an article that caught Jons interest

I remember watching every morning on Channel 4 around exam time. Tiffany Amber-Thiessan (sp), Yummm.

Another one of Jon's posts...

Eh? Surely you mean short-play? You lose the colour when pausing on
long-play

Couldn't agree with you more. Possibly the only decent film I have ever
got out for a lads night in. The bit where the sheep get blown up has got
to be one of the funniest scenes in a film ever.”

Have to agree about Bad Taste, directed by Peter Jackson, who went on to direct, yep you guessed it, Lord of the Rings.

I know this sounds really stupid, but although I think Jon is probably a nice guy, everytime I hear his surname Tickle I always think back to the Mr Men books what we read as children.

Does anyone else remember reading Mr Tickle!

I think the clear lesson to be learned here is obviously "Never, ever, ever post anything on the Internet, as it will be recorded forever and will come back to haunt you".

...or it could be, "Never, ever, ever become famous even for 15 minutes of zedlistdom or people will start looking up every single thing you've ever posted on the Internet."

I think this post sums up either perspective - if people can dredge up your thoughts on Liz Hurley shared with your mate over eight years ago in 1995, there really truly is no hiding place!

Absolutely superb insight into the World of Tickle though!

Jon definately must stay... He's growing on me more and more. I think E4 should give him more camera time. He's by far the most intelligent individual in there

I do think he is very clever. He would shine if they started any debates like they did in BB1.

I was surprised to find that quite a few of the contestants this year have degrees.

Is a degree worth much these days? Depends what it's in I guess.

Federico (I presume he's one of the ones with a degree) said something last night that baffled me... "Most atheists tend to be pacifists".

Are they really?

Wasn't he the Orange one?

Thanks Drifting, I think this is an excellent idea for a thread -- BB housemates as Mr Men.....

haven't seen enough of the BB4 lot for me to make a firm judgment yet, but for BB3 a few to start the ball rolling...

Mr Small -- PJ
Little Miss Greedy -- Alison
Mr Lazy -- Spencer
Mr Perfect -- Alex
Mr Mean -- Jonny
Little Miss Scatterbrain -- Jade

I'm actually finding it quite difficult to decide who I want out now. Jon clearly has potential to be quite amusing..... still don't like Federco or Anouska but for entertainment value it's too early for them to go in the first week......and I don't want Scott to go yet either.
Damn this is harder than I thought

I think that Jon is an interesting character and probably a very nice guy, but in the context of BB4 he is failing miserably to be of any entertainment value.

Like you, I feel that Fed & Anouska have value..... and I too don't want Scott to be evicted just yet.

You can't delete newsgroup postings, can you?

All my junk from years back is still up their and has been on Google Groups since Google bought dejanews.

Try this... won't work for email addresses over which you no longer have control, though.

To be perfectly honest I think Fed talks out of his arse most of the time.

I haven’t seen much live coverage yet, but will get to see much more once I am back from uni. (doing a proper degree by the way! - masters physics).

The Atheists/pacifists thing is a load of mince. If I didn't hear the conversation I would have presumed that he simply didn't know what an atheist was, seeing the 'sts; at the end of both words and connecting them. But someone else in the group asked what an atheist was, so it wasn't like he wasn't well informed.

As far as I am aware there is no proof on any of what he said, but if anything it may be slightly the other way around, since atheists are not going to be objecting to war on religious grounds, only moral, which may make a slight difference to the percentages (but that is only a theory, certainly not a statement of fact which is what Fed was saying).

Gordon.

If you can prove to Google that you are indeed the actual author of whatever post, they will remove it no questions asked. And if you have a problem with a post you didn't write, you can still get Google to remove it under certain circs. They have some stuff about it in their FAQ.

However, regardless of what action you took, that would only remove the post from Google's archives - any other archive of Usenet postings will still have your post in. Face it, they are ingrained for ever. I have the same problem, loads of embarrassing posts throughout 1994-5 - including the first 12 where I couldn't get the hang of the news reader, resulting in post consisting of just sigs, half a message, no message at all..

It's no problem.

*mromega crosses fingers and hopes that he hasn't posted anything too embarresing*

Jon's problem would have been the same, since the posts were done using his Leeds University email address and he probably forgot about them.

It is interesting to just go back and look at what I was posting in 1998. I do remember one post of mine saying that OnDigital would be the first Digital service to fail, got that one right.

I assumed he was reffering to the fact that most wars are the result of religion.

I think Jon reminds me a lot of Dean, very quiet in a group but interesting to listen to in smaller groups. Dean was so boring with a large group but came out of his shell near the end.
