Fax Machine
I've just brought a Printer/Fax Machine/Copier etc. And wanted to know if I want to use it to send faxes do I need another line or can I use my existing telephone line? If so, do I have to ring them to activate a fax service or will I be able to send/recieve faxes straight away? Its not something that will be permenantly connected, just on the odd occassion it needs to be used.

No extra phone line required - just dial the recipients fax number and hit send!

Fax uses the voice part of the line, hence why if you have ADSL broadband, the fax needs connecting to a filter on the voice segment, you simply use the same line as you do for usual calls.

Yes the previous messages are correct, out of personal experience as a Tech,
1. If you rely on this machine as a front line fax, I would recommend a dedicated telephone line. 2.When used in conjunction with the Broadband, when people are on line, (especially small lightly powered networks, bandwith can be a major problem, this prevents the fax sending or recieving sufficient Bandwith to process its protocols and invariably leads to inconclusive faxing) Good luck |
