Can anyone shed some light on a slight problem I am having?

Just set up my new 5.1 system through Yamaha av receiver, connected to my Sky HD box via an optical cable. When watching the Da Vinci Code the sound keeps crackling, its not crackling all the time just at certain parts. It dosn't seem to happen while watching a film on DVD via optical cable, everything seems crystal clear.

Could this be an issue with the film, or the Sky broadcast, or maybe the way I have set the system up??

Try another film/Sky channel and see if it's the same.

More than likely the Sky broadcast or HD Box, I can't imagine an Intermittent problem with a optical cable, they should be like digital they either work or they don't.

But then again Im not a tech head either.

The reason could be due to a poorly connected optical cable on the sky box. It's been mentioned on other forums that some cable just don't fit the socket that well. I too had a similar problem when I first got Sky HD. I tried a different cable and all is ok now.

Interesting reading!!! luckily I haven't got any drop out problems (at the moment) fingers crossed I won't get any.

It seems as though it maybe just a broadcast issue with this film, I have tried some other films and haven't had the same problems with the crackling noise.

Thank for the help with the problem guys.
