Some extra details from last night:

Rob Phillips was the commentator for BBC Radio Wales (SW FM) at Millwall v Swansea.

BBC Radio Scotland

Celtic v Benfica John Barnes/Murdo McLeod/Mark McGhee/Chris Mc Laughlin (commentary)

BBC Tees

Huddersfield v Hartlepool Ivan Ash
Darlington v Shrewsbury Ray Simpson

With regard to earlier postings Charles Harrison retired about 10 years ago after about 25 years at Metro. He did work with Graham Courtney and also Peter Slater (R5L) during that period.

I don't think Alastair Harrison was his son. I am sure he passed away a few years ago (he lived on the same estate as I used to)

Since Chris_Walsall seems no longer to post here, we need some information about West Midlands local radio coverage. Anybody help?
Sorry, should be me really but have been away and not near a wireless, plus i've moved way way out into the sticks Beacon comes through well as does Gold 1017/1152, WM's patchy and Shropshire and H&W are loud and clear. Can't get BRMB at all.

I shall endevour to do my best

I can help here, at least as far as Shropshire is concerned.

AFC Telford Utd (Blue Square North) All games -
Commentary: BBC Radio Shropshire (DAB and online) - Nick Southall and Steve Bowyer/Mike Nadal
Updates: Telford FM - Rob Palin
As an aside, AFC TU are probably the only team at their level to get that amount of local radio coverage. Telford FM also did full live commentary towards the end of last season when TU were pushing for promotion, which was Rob Palin and Dave Salmon.

Shrewsbury Town: All games
Commentary: BBC Radio Shropshire (FM) - Stuart Dunn
Updates: The Severn - Neil Bentley

Thanks. The more local/regional coverage the better. We don't have much in the North (outside the North-East).

Does Adam Green not cover Telford's games anymore?

No, they had a change at the start of the new season, although he can sometimes still be heard fronting "Shropshire United" when James Bond is away.

BBC Five Live Sports Extra

Bristol City v Charlton Athletic Jacqui Oatley and Leroy Rosenior (commentary)
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but it seems Sports Extra have gone down the road of using just one commentator as opposed to two. As their listening figures are excellent for a digital station, I wonder if Five Live itself will adopt this practice in the near future? Swapping commentators mid-way through the half may have some nostalgic appeal, but ultimately I do feel it interrupts the flow of the commentary. Any thoughts?

Sports Extra are using two commentators- its just that one of them is presenting the programme and giving updates on the other scores whilst the other is actually, well, commentating! The first couple of weeks of the new show the two commentators were swapping roles at half time, but this seems to have changed.

I do not understand why 5LSpEx needs 2 commentators and 5L needs an additional reporter, unless (s)he is also the match producer.

Because at the main Championship game the reporter is providing updates for Five Live and World Service whenever they want them- when there are goals but also when they go 'around the grounds' for updates. The Sports Extra presenter is keeping an eye on all the other scores.

Five Live do share the reporters at other Championship games with Sports Extra.

There was commentary but, unfortunately, I cannot remember who was commentating. I was on the A406 North Circular at the time.
