Yes they do along with WBA and Walsall coverage.

I remember the furore many years ago when the Telegraph, in its Radio Listings, wrote that Norwich v Everton was the commentary match on a particular Saturday.

To my knowledge, Beacon will be carrying Wolves commentaries again this season with reports featuring WBA and Walsall.

In days gone by, Beacon and Red Rose (in my opinion) did the best local football coverage outside London with Keith Macklin reporting on Blackburn for Red Rose. How times have changed!

Xfm Manchester are now covering United instead of Century

Yes they do, along with full West Brom Comms.

re. the commentary match being embargoed until 3pm, whichever Radio 1 DJ was on air at the time (in the early 70s it was John Peel, for much of the decade though it was Alan Freeman) used to announce it as well.

Has this been formally announced? - thought it was just speculation when GCAP sold Century. Wouldn't have thought Century would have signed Chris Cooper if this was the case.

I thought XFM and Century were both owned by G-Cap and in the same building? Am I getting confused?

They did but GMG bought the Century stations last year.

Does anyone know if Signal 2 will cease footbll coverage in the 2007-08 season? Towards the end of last season I heard a comment on Radio Stoke that they would be the only station in the city covering Stoke, Port Vale and Crewe next season. Can anyone confirm this please. It will be a crying shame if it is the case in my opinion.

Didn't know they had the Albion but fair play

Who'll be covering Derby this season? Does RAM FM provide full commentary?

They did for the play off finals but not sure what is happening this season.
Do Beacon definitely have commentary rights at WBA. It has traditionally been WM and Capital Gold. In any case I would have thought WBA would not get a look in, commentary wise, with Beacon providing live commentary on every Wolves game.

I would have to agree with Newsbuff on last year's evidence.

This weekend's commentators/reporters on BBC Radio Scotland:

Inverness CT v Rangers - David Begg, Billy Bonds and Chick Young (commentary)

Dundee United v Aberdeen - Scott Davie, Craig Patterson and Jim Spence (probable commentary)

St Mirren v Motherwell - Kheredine Idessane and Steve Cowan

Gretna v Falkirk (at Fir Park, Motherwell) - John Barnes and Allan Preston

Celtic v Kilmarnock (on Sunday afternoon) - John Barnes, Murdo Macleod, Craig Levein and Chick Young (commentary)

Hearts v Hibs (on Monday evening) - David Begg, Murdo Macleod, Allan Preston and Chris McLaughlin (commentary)

Hate to nitpick but it's Billy Dodds not Bonds

Archie204, thanks for the correction. I must admit I can't see Billy Bonds making a beeline for Inverness.

Yep Xfm announced it the other day!

You'd think that, but...... No! He was on pretty much everything when he was the manager at PNE and Billy Davies was just his assistant. Director of Football in comparison is more about making deals than anything so I suspect it won't cramp his style one bit - unless they've sneaked summat in his contract.

I remember there was alot of speculation as to why Gary Weaver disappeared frpm Century before the end of last season to be replaced by Chris Cooper.

Will Century NW have any live football this season - is Chris Cooper still with them?

Is Micky Thomas staying as one of The 3 Century 105.4 Legends in its new 90 minute format?

XFM lists Gary Weaver and Micky Thomas as the commentary team. Chris Cooper and David Heane are listed as Century FM men. The Legends are still listed as Micky Thomas, Gary Owen, Graeme Sharp and Alan Kennedy. I see the North-East Legends are now Malcolm Macdonald, Bernie Slaven and Micky Horswell.

BBC Five Live's reporters today were:

Inverness v Rangers - Ian Turner
Gretna v Falkirk - Darren Fletcher
Leeds v Wigan - Juliet Ferrington
West Ham v Roma - Sohail Saheed

For rugby followers, Alistair Hignell, Ian Robertson, Robert Jones and Matt Dawson were commentating on the England-Wales match at Twickenham for BBC Radio Five Live whilst Andrew Titheridge was reporting for IRN.

I was at Leicester v Portsmouth so not sure about the whole of talkSPORT's list of reporters today but this is what I know:

Leeds v Wigan: Dominic McGuinness
Leicester v Portsmouth: Geoff Peters
Sheffield Wednesday v Birmingham: Graeme Lloyd
West Ham v Roma: Ian Abrahams

England v Wales at Twickenham: Mike Bovill

Twenty20 Cup: Ian Danter, Ronnie Irani, Jack Bannister, Andrew McKenna & John Norman (extended reports for semi-finals and full commentary for the Final).

Some other details to hand:

KCFM's (non-exclusive0 commentators and reporters are thus:

Hull City - Alex Burgess and Richard Hoare

Hull KR (Rugby League) - Rob Chadwick and Karl Svenson

Hull FC (Rugby League) - David Doyle Davidson, Simon Sephton and Chris Price

Studio - Matthew Rudd and Adam Pearson

(Quite a number there from BBC Radio Humberside)

Yorkshire Radio

Richard Stead in the studio with Michael Weadock commentating on Leeds United with Norman Hunter (home) and Peter Lorimer (away). Thom Kirwin is the pitchside reporter. (I have no idea what has happened to John Bradley who was the voice of Leeds Unioted for Radio Aire.)

I'll give you more when I find out but would appreciate help re-Local Radio from on-the-spot correspondents.

I am on duty at an Annual Gathering in London this weekend so my ability to find out the opening English and Welsh weekend's reporters and commentators will be somewhat impaired. It will be back to normal (I hope) during the following weekend.
