BT NTE5 Issue
Hi Guys,
Wonder if you can help as BT are rubbish and don't understand a word i am saying.... 2 Months ago a BT engineer fitted a new master socket and extention, he also fitted some NTE5. Problem is, he fitted this to the master socket in the back room and i want my modem on the other socket as the wireless signal in the back room is poor (we have a stone house) How easy would it be for me to change? or does anyone have a number where BT can change this as the Indian call centre keep saying it's down to the router.. idiots. cheers, dan |

NTE5 is a master socket.
Plug the router into the other socket then - or does suggesting that make me an idiot too? |

Without knowing how the sockets are wired, it's hard to say. Is the other socket wired off the filtered side of the NTE5?

What's stopping you put a filter on the other socket where you want the modem?

Simple in that case, just re-wire the extension to the non filtered side and put a filter on the other socket! This to me seems like a really easily solved problem.

are we talking about your standard nte5 or the one with the built in filter. cos if it's the latter then the dsl signal ends at that socket and won't be sent down to the extensions. to get the ext's to have dsl too he'd need to change it back to the original face plate.

That's what i have!!! What could i do to get it removed because BT want to charge me £125.00 or so even though the new lines cost me £174 or so two months ago. The engineer was very good, but i never new you were unable to connect the modem to other sockets in the house. Seeing as it's a stone house the siginal is poor in every room unless moved to the middle of the room (which i have atm with a 15m dsl cable) running from the master socket and it looks a mess. All i went is the thing removed
