Looking for a New LCD TV
Hi
I currently own a 26" Sony Bravia HD LCD TV U series i think but i want to upgrade to a 32". I have a max of £800 to spend. Any sugestions on what LCD is worth buying? I have to admit the sony i have now the picture quality is fantastic and the colour is brilliant. But of couse the U series is the bottom of the range now. I watch a lot of HD content and i have a PS3 also so i want to get a good quality picture. I want to stay away from samsungs as i find the picutre to dark and i could never get it right, lol Hope someone can give me some advice/recommendations ![]() Cheers |

Sony S/V/P series should be more than adequate!
Well, that or the Panasonic LMD/LXD (100Hz) are awesome too. |

I have the Panasonic LXD and awesome is the correct word! You won't be disapointed.

Go and compare them in the shops, either should be fine.

I was going to go for a HD Samsung, but I'll be watching a lot of standard def. Sky on it and I understand SD can be quite bad on Samsungs? Do the Panasonic 100Hz HD tellies improve SD sources?

Try some out in the shops (make sure they have a broadcast picture - and in SD, not HD).

Do you want 1080p? If you watch a lot of HD, and have a PS3 (many Blu-rays?) then it would makes sense!

I have a couple of Samsungs, a 32" and a 40", and both are fantastic, in SD and HD.
The N series Samsungs use the same panel as the Sonys, just the image drivers are different. I have never had a problem with either TV, and you should get a decent one for £800. |

However, I'm wondering now whether or not to go for the 40" KDL-40D3000 ... currently £868.49 Inc at DigitalPoint? I have an old Sony 32" WS 'lump' currently residing in the bay window area of my (not exactly large) living room but the front elevation profile of the 40" D3000 is not really that much bigger ... and it could certainly move back quite a way into the bay given it's 'slimness'!

I have been looking at and seriously considering this model - best price I've found is £712.80 at MultizoneAv Inc Delivery!

You can certainly often replace a 32 CRT with a 40 inch LCD/Plasma - particularly as the CRT often has the speakes at the side, and the LCD at the bottom - so it's oftem hardly any wider.
If it's any help?, Sony are bringing out a 37 inch at last!. Certainly the jump from 32" to 40" needs a stepping stone somewhere along the way! Edit: Ooops! Shows how much I know ... quite a few 37 inches out there already, come on Sony !!!! |

I have been seriously thinking of getting the LXD700 but have been put off by reports of buzzing but take it your set doesn't have this problem? Wonder what the chances are of getting one which does? Also do you mind if I ask which DVD Player you use with it? I liked the look of the Panasonic DVDS52 but this has been discontinued. I need something which is easy to use but will still give great results. Thanks! Liz
