the o2 website has a link for upgrades for existing customers.

i'm not quite at my 12 month contract minimum yet, but what can i expect as an upgrade ? is there always a charge to get a better phone. do i get extra mins/wap/text free etc ?

at the mo i'm on online 50 tarriff with samsung silver flip phone (non colour screen)..a300 i think.

any info would be appreciated,

i know they advertise a *free* upgrade a lot, which suggests they give you a better phone for free (but presumably tie you in to a higher tariff for another year), when in fact all they do is don't charge you the usual upgrade *fee* (£40 or so). so you don't really get anything for free.

I've just upgraded with o2 online. Got the Nokia 3650. It cost the same as buying the handset with a new contract and there were no extra charges. Obviously you're tied in to the contract for 12 more months.

Also, don't trust the upgrade link on the website. It still told me I wasn't entitled to an upgrade after the 12 months. I rang them up and they sorted it for me anyway.

did you have to call the 50p/min cust service line to do the upgrade ?

did they try and pressure you into changing your tarrif to a more expensive one ?

i presume you keep the same sim card and simply pop it into the new phone when it arrives ?
