Which LCD Monitor and dvd player combo???
I am wanting to buy a LCD monitor and hook it upto a dvd player. Problem is i have no idea if this can be done and which cable/connectors are needed between the two or what resolution to go for etc..............so basically i know nothing about anything!!! hahaha
Anyone who can give the slightest fragment of information would be set on the highest pillar of wisdom and grovelled to forever. |

Generally a 'monitor' won't have suitable inputs, or accept the low resolution of TV signals. You've far more chance getting an LCD TV that will work as a monitor as well - but you will require a TV licence (assuming that was a concern?).

Thanks for your reply nigel.
I've had it with TV programs, so have ditched my TV, taken the aerial down and got rid of all the cabling. I am just going to go for watching DVD films from now on. I have read somewhere on another forum that it is possible to connect a lcd screen with a dvd player but can't figure out where, i think it is a bit tricky. I don't really want to get an lcd tv coz that defeats the purpose of my self righteous quest for TV freedom. Sorry i should have said that i'd got rid of my tv, license etc at the start. |

A possible option is an HDMI DVD player?, this may be able to connect to a standard computer monitor that has a DVI socket? - you could check at a computer shop!. |

Why not just buy a PC? That comes with a DVD drive and an LCD monitor.

Nigel you're a genious. I'll ask around at the weekend about said problem.
I did think about an lcd tv and just get the tuner taken out or de-activated or something, but then i'd always have to prove that it cannot physically receive tv signals to the powers that be, pain in the arse maybe but it might be the easier option in terms of actually making it work...if you get my drift. I'll look into an hdmi dvd player. Thankyou |
