O2 Cocoon vs Motorola Z8
Shasta McNasty
02-08-2007
Anyone got this yet or seen a decent review for either of these handsets? (Not preview)

I'm planning on going back to O2 this month or next - and the Cocoon interests me but the 2 mega-pixel camera worries me a bit. The same applies for the Motorola Z8.

I may consider the Nokia N95 but it seems a bit bulky and more importantly crashes A LOT - with a crappy battery life too.

Any help would be good. Ta!

Thanks Postman Kev - what's is the battery life on it like? I've heard bad things.

Currently I'm using an N73 on T-Mobile but I have to admit I'm not the biggest fan of it. I much prefer Sony Ericsson phones but between their dodgy video recordings and more importantly wonky joysticks I had to move away from them.

W850i then

The Cocoon looks big and bulky and not very nice in my opinion, although the clock alarm function looks good.

The Cocoon isn't bulky, I seen it in the shop yesterday... I'm just wary of an O2 handset after a previous O2 branded phone I owned. It was awful!!

The Moto Z8 I've not heard anything about - does anyone actually own one?!

As for the N95 - does it have slow menus like the N73 and when you get a text does it just say "1 text message received" instead of saying who it is from?

I have the Moto Z8 but am now sending back cos of poor batt, and hard to slide open....Also the keys are really hard to press when texting, was gonna cancel altogther cos this was a upgrade but was offered the The Cocoon handset for £25 a month Xnet and 500 text on 12 month tarrif so gonna try this phone out and it saves me £10 a month..

Thanks Rock... I've still to decide what I'm going for but I've had enough of my Nokia N73. It's a horribly sluggish phone with lots of little niggles. Think it will be back to Sony Ericsson's for me.

The Z8 got some bad reviews. Similar to what you said, so I'm glad I didn't jump straight in. As for the Cocoon, I've heard the menus are slow and there's some glitches. Do a search on YouTube for 'o2 cocoon' there's a video review of it and in the description the guy has put his pluses and minuses of the handset.

i have had the pleasure of playing with both.

The cocoon is OK, the scrolly lights will keep you amused for days. I thought I would like the Z8 (as i love moto), but the menu lag was annoying.

Out of the 2 I would say......... Get the N95
