Who is the cheapest just now?

Be interesting to see if they offer me it as a free upgrade when my contract is up in Feb 08.

Well from what i can see you have to spend £50 a month to get it free on T-mobile

Vodafone seem to be cheaper to start with:- £37.50 then £75.00 after 3 months to get it free

And o2 you have to spend £50 a month to get it free.

Orange you have to pay again £55 per month to get it free.

So in all 3 seem the cheapest so far unless you get it as an upgrade on your current tariff.

I bet the poor excuse of 3 firmware will be what makes the N95 unstable. Look at when 3 got their hands on the 6280 for example? So many firmware faults it was unbelieveable!

Good find, I just got it on 3 though (literally minutes before seeing this) but.... although I had to pay for the phone 49.99 because I had a moan about minor matters (didnt get nasty just moaned) they offered it me on an equivalent to flext tariff and then added a 25% discount so its costing me 26 quid a month... result

The N95 might be a good deal better on T-Mobile or Vodafone as they have the biggest HSDPA coverage on 3G.

T-Mobile have good deals on the N95 and also have Web'N'Walk Pro that allows the phone to be used as a modem for laptop or PDA use (T-Mobile have HSPDA high speed access on all their 3G sites), so you can use the Internet just like at home. 3's limited x-series does not allow any modem use - only phone display web access and applications, making the usage pretty limited.

On t-mobile you will have worse call coverage than 3 (just seems to get worse, must have had 10-15 dropped calls today),it also costs around 130 quid on a 35 pounds tariff, more than 1 three advisor have told me that the x series phones can be used as a modem to laptop too.

I wish people would stop listening to the rubbish salespeople spout and check the terms and conditions for acccurate information.

From 3's X-Serises Terms & Conditions.

"Please remember that the X-Series services are for your personal use only and do not include using your mobile as a modem with your PC or laptop."

That's what started this thread!

I was in the Three shop in Edinburgh a few months back, asking if the E61i was on the horizon. He hadn't heard of it and didn't know that the E61 on display did not come with a camera.

Modem use according to the 3 Price Guide costs £2 per Megabyte. The phone uses a special dial-up code to access so it is easy for them to tell whether the handset alone is used or if the phone is being used as a modem.

Others have already reported that they have had to pay unexpected bills for the above reason and a verbal assurance is no defence against 3's publicly available Terms & Conditions.

Be careful!!

I work for the company (in a technical role) and there is no way that we can tell the difference between using the internet on your handset or as a "modem."

For X-Series: Whatever happens, you'll get a warning SMS at 1GB and you'll get a "soft-suspend" when you reach 2GB until your next billing cycle.

You are never ever charged for additional data when using X-Series.

The £2 charge that you state is if customers have the addon for "Add Internet 10" or "Add Casual Internet" per additional MB.

It is £1 per additional MB if you are using a datacard.

I don't know what technical capacity ... but modem use is dial-up and authenticated by CLI. A user has to dial *99# to connect - so it's very easy for 3 or any other network to tell when a modem dials in.

I don't know why people deliberately confuse what is a simple issue that is clearly explained in the x-series terms and conditions (link above). I have first hand knowledge of people being charged for modem use on x-series. 3 do not publish restrictive conditions for no reason and it is dangerous suggesting that the company might ignore it's own published terms.
