A friend of mine has an new Sony 26" KDL LCD TV.

And has noticed a faint band of light permanently across the screen, about half way up.

You notice it most when the image is dark - or pans up and down.

It's like a strip of the picture that's slightly lighter in colour than the rest of the picture.
It's quite subtle - and I did not notice it until he pointed it out. But it must be annoying to live with if you know it's there.

I told him it might be 'clouding', though it's not cloud shaped it's a straight line of light.

Does anybody know what it is - and could he get the set replaced because of this?

Cheers.

It's a horizontal line of light, about half way up the screen - about 2" high and 10" across.

It's a slightly lighter shade than the rest of the picture.

Like I say the problem is pretty subtle - it took me a while to spot it. Because it's un-noticeable 80% of the time.
But I think it would drive me mad too - knowing about it - I'd be looking at the problem area constantly.

Would they give a replacement for this sort of problem - it's under 28 days old I believe?
I think from Comet or Currys or something.
Time will tell I suppose.

If you're not happy with it contact where you bought it from, as long as you can demonstrate the problem they should sort it out.

I replaced the LCD panel in a 46 inch Sony Bravia the other week, for a single diff pixel - I don't consider Sony prices low enough to allow for ANY duff pixels.
