Tiscali TV technical problems

OK I have been having this problem with my Tiscali TV for a while now. After a while of my STB being on, the picture starts going all blocky and bouncy. It is very hard to explain what this is like, so I have took some videos of the TV picture, showing what happens, and posted them here:

I really don't know what to do. When I call Technical support they just say re-boot the box. They don't accept that it is a long term problem for me. After about 2 or 3 ours of the box being on, it starts doing it suddenly. Upon full re-setting of the box it is fine. It is so annoying, and also if I leave the box on in order to record something if I go out, when I go to play it back it has blocked obviously. Pleaseeeeeeeee can someone help

sorry i dont think anyone can help you out there as its a problem at the tiscali end
only thing you can do is change the scart lead it could be that or the adsl filter.
all the rest is down to tiscali

When this happens on Satellite TV it's the start of a problem which turns into NO SATELLITE SIGNAL eventually if left alone. There could be several things causing this (Tiscali TV may be the same).

1. The cabling - due to water ingress or a bad connection OR
2. The box - only picking up part of the signal - general rule of thumb with digital compressions is that the picture only changes what is needed to be changed and not the whole picture. If the box doesn't get the signal properly it tries to guess what the picture should be - as a result the picture blocks up/looks wrong OR
3. Power Supply Unit in the box may be faulty OR
4. Decoder is faulty

I'd get back on the phone and get them to arrange for someone to come out and fix it.

A scart lead wouldn't give picture break up like that. It may cause your picture to disappear and leave sound (or the other way around). Or turn your screen a bright colour if one of the pins through the scart aren't working properly.

As I haven't used ADSL for IP TV I wouldn't know if what the OP is seeing is due to a faulty filter or not - can anyone verify?

You need to call them up and insist on having an engineer take a look at it.

I just had something similar - 3 year old+ box. They replaced it with no questions.

I now have a remote with the HC Diamond, a box with the HC Slog and an EPG with the Tiscali Blob

I have exactly the same set-up after a similar problem. Nice little mish-mash there! Reminds me of a friend with a Videotron branded wall connector, Cable & Wireless STB, NTL remote and Virgin Media EPG.

Additionally my mobile has a BT Cellnet branded SIM, displays BT Genie as the network and has O2 branded software. Tidy!
