I have been ignoring this thread for ages because astronomy is not really my thing but after having a read I think I will give it a go later. The sky has completely cleared up and according to the NASA website it should be appearing at 10:33 in my area for 4 minutes. I have set my alarm to remind me.

Bummer, cloudy here in Alacant. No chance of a sighting.

just passed over Norwich a few minutes ago, amazing. But something proceeded it on a similar path but looked more reddy and slightly flashing too, not sure if it was a plane, couldn't hear anything while outside. Anyone else notice this????

Good sighting over London.

Halfway across it passed through a gap in the dense clouds as if it had been made for it.

Saw it for a few seconds before clouds blocked the view but it was quite bright while it was visible. It was in pretty much the same position it was when I saw it on Saturday.

I'm Norwich too, didn't see anything else, but I could've been looking the wrong way!

Sprowston here, deffo something else ahead of it. Had the shuttle disengaged from the station or they still in tandem? Got a good clear view of both, better than last night, piddling down then.

No the shuttle is still attached. How far ahead was this object?

There was a Progress supply ship due to be launched last Thursday or so.

Another reasonable view last night although at the low angle it was lost behind the trees at the front of the house for a few seconds.

So that's it for ISS spotting until early September unless you're going to get up at 5am next month!

There's a Soyuz up there with the ISS at the moment, went up in May, due back November.
Maybe that's what people are seeing

Not sure exactly how the Soyuz mission works - maybe the return vehicle stays seperate from the ISS, with the crew using a smaller transfer vehicle to dock with the ISS...??????

Cropped screenshot from Starry-Night software.
It does show the Soyuz as a seperate object.

Not a million miles away! I trust you'll be brushing up on your Castlillion and Valenciano.

I take it this was the soyuz that ferried the 3 extra crew up recently. I guess it's there until 3 crew need to head back down again. Not sure about the picture... might have been taken just prior to docking. I was under the impression that the soyuz was docked permenantly and used as additional space and if needed as a lifeboat - although with 6 crew that's going to need a rethink!

That picture is cropped from a screenshot of 'Starry Night' software, during it's simulation of last night's ISS pass, at around 10:30pm.

Here's a full screenshot, time index at 10:34pm
I also did a satellite data update (for best accuracy) just before running the simulation.

The software also quotes tham as being 361 metres apart - or just over one arcminute (1/30th the width of the Moon) as seen from the ground.
It would take quite keen eyesight but it should be possible to just separate them by naked-eye.

I haven't really bothered to look much during this latest batch of passes - but I'll be taking a good look next chance I get.

was about a minute ahead of the ISS, did go off to a slightly more NE direction though near final stages of pass.Could have always been one of the high altitude planes from Mildenhall or Lakenheath which frequent this area but did appear strange to me, especially the little green man waving down at me

I saw it last night. I went down to the sea front so I could see as much open sky as possible and it appeared roughly when the nasa website said it would. I thought it was a plane at first, it moved slowly along for a few minutes quite low down in the sky and quickly faded into nothing at about 10:38. It flickered a bit and was noticeably brighter than the stars. I am quite made up with my first bit of astronomy.

Well done. I wish I had a seafront as a horizon.
