I have the same issue with my 440. I've tried performing a full reset on the box but the problem remains.

I too have had these problems. The way round this I found is to turn on Guide + in the initial setup menu.
Hope this helps PaulR |

I think I've finally worked out why some channel names are shown properly on the front panel display whereas some show as D001, D002, etc. It appears to be due to the length of the channel name as it is shown on the blue GuidePlus banner that appears when you change channel. As long as the channel name is less than five characters long (including spaces) it will be shown properly, i.e 'UKHIS' & 'SKY 3' will display properly, but 'BB1ENGL' will be displayed as D001.
Bit pathetic really - someone (Pioneer or GuidePlus) needs to think about this sort of thing a bit more. |

Yes, it's the same on the Sony RDR recorders, a rebadged version of the Pioneer. It's a 'feature' to ensure uniqueness of name on the limited display. Shame they don't give the option for the User to decide if they would rather see all the truncated channel names as there are only a limited number that would appear the same when showing just the first 5 characters.
