I have an 02 pay-as-you-go phone and every time you send a message you receive a network message showing your new balance and an "beep beep" alert.

Anyone know how to stop this? I've already tried, and failed, to do this via the phone menus.
I've a Nokia 6300.

Thanks.

Yeo I know.

Nope YOU cant do it but O2 can. Call them up or email them and say you want your balance alerts turned off. I emailed them and they turned them off now its lovely when I send a text and dont get an annoying balance alert.

When sending messages on the Nokia O2 phone the balance is texted back with an unnecessary alert sound. O2 can be phoned to stop the balance being texted or…

To continue receiving the balance amount after sending each text but not hear the alert go into the options for Show Balance and put it into a Group that is otherwise unused then opt not to hear alerts for that group.

To find Show Balance on my inexpensive Nokia I went into the address book then pressed “Up” until Show Balance appeared. I selected Details then Options then Caller Groups. Then I scrolled down to Other as I have no other entry in that Group.

Then I went to Settings and “Alert for”, I de-selected “All Groups” and selected all other groups but left “Other” de-selected. It worked for me.

You need to use the contact form on the website and supply the security details.

The Caller Group “Other” is where all names in Contacts are placed unless you specifically put them in another group such as “Family” or “Business”. Preventing alerts to “Other is not a good idea. I have now put the contact “Show balance” in the “VIP” Caller Group and prevented alerts to that group as above.

I had to phone a couple of times to get them to turn it off. The first time it didn't seem to work . . . they said.
