Hi
I am planning to buy a new Digital Cordless handset and willing to spend about £75.

When I was shopping online, I found the following that was mentioned in the Which? magazine as the best buy..
Panasonic 7120 (KXTG 7120) ES DECT Ansaphone

Also, if it is twin phone do I need 2 telephone points in my house?

Any help would be appreciated!..

thanks

You'll only need one phone socket - but you'll need a free mains socket reasonably close thereto (the DECT base station is powered by a mains transformer - usually 9 or 12 volts - so needs mains power as well as a phone socket.).

The second handset will come with a charger pod into which the second handset can be inserted for charging its batteries. That only needs a mains socket so most people use that as their bedside phone.

The choice of phones is very varied now so, generally speaking, the more you pay, the more you get (e.g. colour screens, multiple phone book memories, polyphonic ring tones, build quality).

Personally, I need least cost routing so am limited to Orchid equipment. However, I currently have the following additional equipment in use in my house:

A Cable & Wireless DECT handset/charger pod registered to the Orchid LCR DECT base station as the third handset (the spare bedroom' bedside phone);

A Cable & Wireless DECT base station/TAM (main bedroom) with a single Cable & Wireless handset.

On BT Broadband Talk, I have an Alcatel Altiset DECT base station with a single Alcatel handset and an additional Philips Onis 200 handset registered.

However, unless you want to go the LCR route, I won't make any further comment on your possible choices.

Fantastic phone bought 3 handset version from Argos 6 months ago, the sound quality is as good as any wired phone.

Some friends of mine have a Phillips cordless & the sound quality is awful reminded me of a 1970's transistor AM radio
