OH's low user (£16.50 pm online) contract with TMob is up (18mth). As usual I've been asked to do the 'research' on a phone upgrade
K810i or N73 - OH likes taking pics and short video clips, esp indoors of the cat . you'd be hard pressed to know it is a cat on the current D750i (K750i TMob version).
I was def going for the 810i until I saw a video clip (of another cat lol) which was taken on the N73 which wasn't bad at all.
Know mobiles are notoriously bad at video but we can't afford a camcorder at the minute. Any suggestions pls as contract renewal has to be renegotiated asap to have any leverage at all. cheers.

Indeed it is.

I had the N73 but now have a k800i and i miss the N73 lol

If your gonna go for the K810i dont. The buttons are awful just go with the K800i as its just the same phone without the daft buttons.

SE K810i is better. The buttons can be fiddly for some - best to try it out in a shop first. The N73 is slow to work through menus and there's lots of annoying little issues with it, like "1 text message" appearing on the screen instead of telling you who it is from straight away, then it seems like a few seconds before the actual text can be read from viewing the alert. The K810i also has a better camera, even though both phones have the same pixels, the SE has a better lens and sensor. Video is poor on SE phones but how often would you use it?

Just tried that there on my g/f N73 and its not true. Comes up instantly.

Now see this i disagree with. I just took a photo of the same thing on my K800i (same as the K810i just without the awful buttons) and my g/f N73 and the N73 has more vibrant colourful pics that the k800i.

Also i doubt that the k800i has better optics than the n73 being it uses Carl Ziess optics lol

The video on the n73 is fairly good as well whereas on the k800i its bloody awful.

So in summary,

The pics on the N73 look better colour wise and focus than the k800i.

N73 has better optics

K800i has a proper flash as opposed to the n73's LED flash.

N73 has better video.

N73 has a bigger screen as well.

Your girlfriend must have a better edition of the N73 than me!! Texts take longer to view as it has to jump through the menus.

Regarding the photos, do a search on the internet. The general opinion in all reviews is SE's K800i/K810i have better quality pix than Nokia's N73. You're right in saying the N73 have more vibrant colours but in fact they are more unnatural than the K810i. I have owned both the SE k800i and Nokia N73 so I know the difference. The flash is better on the SE, the Nokia has a bigger screen and better video.

Basically, if you like SE's stick with them - if you like Nokia's you won't go far wrong with it - but I know which I'd rather.

I dont have any views on the N73 other than my mate wasn't that impressed (she didn't go into details why I'm afraid) but I have the K810i, after a LOT of searching of review sites etc. It did seem to get really good reviews - obviously otherwise I wudnt have picked it! but I am really happy with it. my last upgrade was a nokia 6233 and i used it for a few wks until it drove me up the wall and i went back onto my old phone, so that's why I had given up on nokia.
K810i has a great camera and you can mess with the pics, the internet access is good - fast and clear. I dont really have a problem with the buttons, overall I am very happy and I'm glad I picked it!!

the quality of the video's what's going to clinch it so....the 810i *may* have a better stills camera but the N73 has marginally better video quality?
