Vodafone in Norway
I have a Vodafone contract and I'm in Norway at the moment.
I arrived on Monday and everything was fine, phone worked. Phone worked as normal all day on Tuesday. I had access to both Norwegian networks, Telenor and Netcom. Yesterday morning I woke up "emergency calls only". Didn't think much about it till later in the day when I went to use the phone, still got "emergency calls only". On searching the networks on my phone, Telenor had a padlock next to it but Netcom looks fine. When I select Netcom I eventually get the message on my phone "no access to network". My sisters phone that is on O2 works fine, on either of the Norwegian networks. My Tmobile sim card in my phone works fine on either of the networks. I've e-mailed Vodafone but they can take up to 48 hours to reply. Don't really want to phone them due to the cost of calls. Can anyone think what might be the problem? Thanks, David |

You didn't happen to ever report your handset lost/stolen? It sounds like maybe a blacklisting for the handset's IMEI has come into place.
Try putting your SIM card in the o2 phone (I believe they are all unlocked) and if it works in that phone, then it could be a blacklist issue, however if it is still doing the same - it will point to an issue with your network. |

Hi Davidrobert
Working for Vodafone, I know there is currently a network fault preventing Vodafone UK customers using their phones on any Norwegion network. I don't have a timescale for when it will be resolved I'm afraid |

So my first e-mail to Vodafone gets a reply saying to move my phone around the room trying to get signal... christ! I've been up mountains, I've been at sea level, I've been all over the place and I couldn't get signal (well I can get signal, its just the networks wont let me on).
Replying to that, I get another email today informing me that there was an international bar on my account, that has now been taken off. Still nothing....... Odd that it worked the first two days before the international bar was put in place. No one officially from Vodafone has told me that there is a problem with any UK customers using Norwegian networks. Come on Vodafone, 5 days now!! Think of all that over priced roaming charges you are losing from me! |
