DejaVoodoo

I have a Sony DAVS300 Home cinema system. I am thinking of upgrading the system, but I don't know what to. It has to have a digital input so I hook my xbox upto it and I would like to have Dolby ProLogic II. Can anybody help??

All the latest Sony models have Prologic II on board and I would have thought all of them will give excellent results. Why don't you buy an up to date home cinema magazine and see what their best buy is?

DejaVoodoo - unfortunately the DAVS300 doesn't have any digital/optical inputs/outpus for sound so that makes upgrading it difficult.

This means you'll need to replace the main body with a separate AV amplifier and DVD player.

You should be able to re-use the speakers from the DAVS300 system in the short term to lessen the impact on your wallet but you'll proabably want to replace these eventually.

One option might be to replace your video recorder with a DVD recorder as a first step but still play your pre-recorded DVDs on the DAVS300.

You could then replace the main body of the DAVS300 at a later stage with an AV amplifier with all the needed digital inputs and play pre-recorded DVDs on the DVD recorder.

Hope that helps! I'm thinking of doing something similar myself so let me know how you get on.

I have just purcashed an xbox and am trying to connect through the audio/video-in connectors (red, yellow and white) on the back of my Sony DAVS300 view them via the Video 1 and Video 2 functions. I can get the sound but no picture. The xbox works fine plugging it in to the TV via the AV connectors. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

If you have the DAV-S300 connected to your TV using the S-Video output then you won't see any picture from the Video1/Video2 inputs on the 300 unless you also use the composite output to connect to your tv also (the S-Video output is only for the DVD).

I went a bit mental and bought a Sony HT-DDW750 System and the Sony RDRGX7 DVD Recorder. I have the HT-DDW750 System now. Excellent piece of kit. Gonna buy a Optical cable to hook it up to my xbox. Still waiting for my RDRGX7 DVD recorder. Can't wait!!!
