You need to select Link1 on the link box rather than Link2.

Try swapping the Sky and DVD Recorder scart connectors at the scart switch end to see if it makes any difference. If it worked before then maybe the scart switch is kaput.
Does the Sky box do scart pass through? I'm wondering if you actually need the the scart switch. Another other option maybe is to connect the Sky box directly to TV scart 1 and use the scart switch on TV scart 2 between the DVD recorder and DVD Surround sound. |

Shouldn't the Sky box scart 1 go to the switch and Sky scart 2 to the DVD recorder?

Sky boxes don't have "scart 1/scart 2"...they are marked TV Scart (which can output RGB/Composite video) and VCR Scart (which can only output Composite video but will pass-through an RGB signal).
Connect as follows... Sky TV Scart to DVDR AV2 DVDR AV1 to TV AV1 You haven't given the make/model of DVDR but if it can input/output RGB set the AV2 in/AV1 out to RGB. |

However, if your DVDR cant 'pass through' the Sky signal while it is recording from its internal tuner, you need to watch sky via a different route. I have this same issue and get round it using Svideo out of my Sky+ to TV AV2. If you only have Sky (not +) you will need to connect the sky VCR scart to TV AV2 and watch Sky in composite on TV AV2 (only while DVDR is recording - otherwise watch Sky in RGB on TV AV1).
