Felidae, Filly for short. Felidae (Fell-ee-day) is the generic name for the cat group - like canine (or canidae) is for dogs.

Tiger, cos it doesn't have stripes.

Zorro, cos it has a mask.

Sorry I missed your post. Yes I had a cat called sparky. A cat called skippy how funny. I remember that programme.

Gorgeous little thing.
Kittens have a cheeky habit of turning out to be opposite sex from the name you give them, so go for something flexible.

I think place names can make great pet names: Jilly Cooperhad a labrador called Sevenoaks. Get out an A_Z and a pin

My (male) cat's name is Herby (as in the car :P) and my female cat is called Levi, which I think is a great name for both a cat and a human
Or Maria, I love that name too!

Glove/Mitten (that's what my Dad used to threaten to turn our cat into if she kept getting under his feet )
Harley
Furball
Pussy (Dad's suggestion, as he knew Mum would never call her )

Cats & dogs are a bit like babies. Sometimes you can't pick a name for them until you've got them in the house & see their personalities.

I have two 4 month olds, who we finally called Sooty & Sweep.. it took us about 3 weeks to come up with names for them .. and although they ended up with the same names as my goldfish ( although only sweep the goldfish remains ) they actually suit them -sweep in particular .. she Sweeps though the house..

then again, I may not be the best name picker in the world.. my childhood cat was called Dopey...

A VERY long time ago, I had a book called "Pooky at the Seaside". He was actually a rabbit, though.

If you're a Terry Pratchett fan, Greebo is a good name.
