Hi there folks would just like your esteemed opinions on whether or not for the price i'm getting a good deal on this TV? http://www.johnlewis.com/230430650/Product.aspx

Also, if the answers proves to be no could you please give me some direction as to where someone with a £500 budget can get a LCD tv of a fairly good standard.

Depends.....?

How important is JL 5 year warranty to you?

Would you be prepared to pay £50-70 more for a good 32" set? Or is 26" your preferred size?

Hitachi is under-rated brand but JL (asking not pricematched) price is usually high for any brand.

The reason for the above questions is that from about £470+ you can get a choice of branded 32" models with 1-3 year warranty.

Hmm well I'm not limited to 26" as such and if presented with a 32" option I would go for that providing the price is good. However, with regards to the JL gurantee I must say it is a sweet incentive as just recently my dad's 3 year old TV broke down and being outside the 1 year manufacturers guarantee he will basically have to buy a new TV. So really 3 years down the line I wouldn't like to be in that situation but I would be prepared to pay £470 + for the branded models. Only question is where would one purchase one of these TV's?

Don't touch it with a bargepole.

It's a generic Vestel set, overpriced and poor performance.

Well after the feedback on here I have decided to stay well clear of that Hitachi. However, during another browsing session on John Lewis I came across this http://www.johnlewis.com/Audio+and+T...4/Product.aspx would you say that represents good value for the price of it?

Still expensive, it all depends how much the 'free' five year guarantee means to you.

Personally i'd go for the Toshiba 32C3030DB available at a similar price.
