Nokia 6280 - 3G Settings Wrong? (Vodafone PAYG)
Orry Verducci

I've just acquired a Nokia 6280 off a family member. When I got it I assumed it was configured correctly and it would work with 3G straight away. However, earlier today when I was in 3G coverage, I looked at the Mobile TV page on Vodafone Live and it said I was not in 3G coverage, despite the 3G symbol showing on the signal indicator. I didn't notice a speed increase either, as if it was still using GPRS for internet traffic, despite being in 3G coverage. Just to make sure it wasn't Vodafone, I checked on my brothers phone at the same time, and 3G worked as expected.

Would this be down to incorrect settings or something else? I've had a quick look at the settings and I can't see what's wrong, and it does work perfectly with GPRS. It's also worth noting that my SIM has never been used in a 3G phone, so is it possible it needs activating on the SIM, which I assumed would already be active (the SIM is about 2 years old)?

You would be best contacting Vodafone, there are several things it could be.

Call them, It probably needs activating on your sim or even a new one sent out, Im not sure how vodafone works.

I have had the same thing though, 3G signal but i cannot use any features, As it was not activated.
