Samsung i600 on Orange - Internet access via wifi?
Hello all,
After a mishap at the weekend I have been forced into an early upgrade on my phone and after much agonising I went for the Samsung i600. Nearly 2 days in and it is still not working properly but I am starting to wonder if Orange have crippled some of it's features as they have done on other phones, specifically wifi. The phone is wifi enabled but I cannot see any options to surf the internet using wifi. Am I missing something here? Or have orange removed this feature? If anybody with a i600 on orange can help I'd be very grateful. Thanks Neil |

I have a generic version but when you press the power button and go to wireless connections and turn on Wifi do you then get a message pop up telling you networks are in range?

I have been able to connect to my wireless router and entered all my wpa security details and got connected ok.
Once I am connected to the network how do I get IE to use wifi over wap? Thanks |

when you open IE press menu then tools & then options, then connections & then move it so it says "the internet" that should then use the WiFi - best test is to switch the phone to offline mode and if you then get webpages your fine.

It is called "orange internet" on mine but it even when selecting it my phones is still reaching for WAP rather than the wifi.
Is it possible that orange could have purposely disabled this? Everybody at Orange technical does not seem to understand what I am asking them and I have put an email into them yesterday in an attempt to explain it in plain English. Hopefully it is just me doing something wrong. I otherwise really like the phone. |

I'll have a look about on mine and see if there is anything else - apart from that you could always flash the phone to Windows Mobile 6 and that will remove anything to do with Orange and I can confirm wifi will work.

Thanks.
I don't think the English version of WM6 was available on the i600 yet? It is greyed out on the samsung site. Is there somewhere else to get it? Are you on the Orange network? |
