Speakers
Hello all, went round a mates yesterday and he had these incredibly small surround speakers running off his laptop that gave awesome sound, very loud and very clear, with loads of bass
They were only about 10 watts per channel but they sounded like 70-80, and only cost £50!According to my mate these can't be used with a tv/dvd etc set-up, only through PC equipment due to the speakers being digital 5.1? Seen some 5.1 home cinema surround speakers in the Argos catalogue (just as a reference point) which are 8 to 10 watts per channel but can't imagine them being too loud or bassy and it doesnt say if theyre digital or not. So to the question, finally, are there any surround speakers I can run off my tv/dvd set-up that would not only improve the audio but also make it louder than the standard lcd speakers? Thanks for any advice. |

Can't really advise you on which speakers but unless the speakers are active don't read too much into the power ratings.
Most speakers are passive and need to be powered by an amplifier. The RMS / watts per channel figure you quote is only what the speakers can handle not what they produce. The power will come from the amp. |
