Receiving o2 texts - no sender name, just number
This used to happen on my N70 but I had no problems on my N80. Now I'm all N95'd up and it's rearing it's ugly head again.
When I receive a text from friends on o2 (and I THINK it's friends on o2 contracts, prepay doesn't appear to have the problem) only their number appears in the 'From' Box. I've then deleted them totally from the phone book, tried adding them again but to no joy - still I get no name, just number. Anyone esle have the same problem? |

Its nothing to do with O2, the network sends just the number. Your phone then looks the number up in your contacts.
this problem normally happens when you have the number against two contacts. Or have the number in your SIM phonebook and in Contacts. |

i don’t know if it’s still the case, but Nokia use just the last 6 digits of the caller ID to look up the sender’s name. i once re-added a number in international format, and it took me a while to work out why the name was not displayed when I got a text from them

Worth noting that text messages will not change to show the name if they have already been received. So if you do find a duplicate number in your phone you will not see if it has fixed the problem until you receive another message from that person.
BTW: you don't specifically mention if this happens with phone calls aswell. |
