I wonder what network will get them? Will be very interesting if only 1 does. I have no desire to leave my current provider but it would be a dilema if they did not offer the iphone.

In truth I need to actually handle an iphone first as I am still not sure if I can get on with a phone which does not have proper keys. I may end up going for the inevitable 6g video ipod when it appears even though I am very happy with my 5g 80gb one. Also on the iphone I can't help but wonder how scratched the screen will get when you are using it as touch screen all the time.

Why on earth do you want the iphone then its old tech. It would have been cutting edge about 4 years ago. there are much better gadget phones on sale now.

I'll be glad when the iphone is launched in the UK.

I don't want one, but all the hype and specilation on what network will stop.

If this screen problem gets any worse which i imagine it will then i doubt there will be any release here for a good while yet.

It has been reported that O2 have won the deal to carry the handset in the UK.

And where has this been reported to be a fact ?

There seem to be plenty of sites saying o2 will carry it, yet there are more saying they won't, such as http://www.tech.co.uk/gadgets/phones...leid=661416082

It would be a crime if they did get it though. I'm no fan of apple but if its browsing capabilities are going to be as good as the hype says, Tmobile's data plans will be the only option really.

edit: interesting, that link also says the UK version won't have 3G.

I agree Talizman, there are loads of sites with these "rumours" but since O2, or any of the others, has yet to make any statements about it then its not really official.

In fact just before O2 got mentioned in the rumours there were lots of reports of Vodafone being the provider but that never got confirmed either.

It has been reported that every network has won the deal to carry it in the UK at various points, often by the same sources.

The inevitably result of which seems to be that all these stories are fictional, and nobody knows yet. Except perhaps Apple.

I would expect some sort of data deal like Apple did with AT&T - probably unlimited but compulsory.

there's no way it'll be £99. it won't be subsidised so expect something around £250.

That doesn't say it's a fact, only that it's been "reported".

BIG difference.
