“What are the negatives? It is an 18-month contract, while a typical broadband one is for 12 months, and subscribers will not get the broadband straight away. Talk Talk says it will give each customer an indication of when their connection will 'go live' during the signing-up process. There is a one-off set-up fee of £29.99 and a disconnection fee of £70.”

It's pretty crap that you would have to pay £70 when you've been with them for that long. It's not like you're under contract still or anything

I'm sure that if you're outside of the 18 month contract then you don't have to pay the £70 disconnection charge, unless you signed up to free broadband (or maybe switched to a new call package??) in the last 18 months...

if not... I would certainly ask to speak to a manager!!

I joined talk talk at the end of January to the talk 3 package which is all calls free, and free broadband! (sounds great doesn't it)?

I left talk talk in May after being promised this FREE broadband and never actually getting it!!

Then a couple of months down the line I get the £70 cancellation fee!!?? Followed by 2 final demands!

I was never told about this?

So I have just rang them, because as far as i'm concerned, they are in breech of contract for not supplying the service they were charging me for?

I'll let you guys know what happens!

Hi all,

Just to update you, when I last rang Talk Talk they told me a manager would call me within 2 hours or the next morning because they were due to close.

Did I get a call? NO! (another fault on Talk Talks part)

This was on 29th August. I then got a letter yesterday from a debt collector asking me to pay up in 10 days or else!

I phoned Talk Talk back today and told them everything (again). The guy on the phone checked everything and then came back to tell me that the fault was on Talk Talk for not supplying me with the service so he would stop all charges and contact the debt collector. I should receive a letter confirming this in the next 48hrs!

hopefully this will be the last of it!

Hi, Don't bank on it !! Here is a copy of the letter that we sent Talk Talk (as it saves me typing it all out again)

" I am writing to complain about the level of service and bills that I am receiving from Talk Talk, Please read as follows:

Your agents first called on 13th May of this year to offer me the Talk 3 plan, I agreed went through all the details, bank etc and I was told the welcome pack, modem and CD would arrive within 7 to 10 days.
Then about two weeks later another agent called offering the same plan, so I told her that I had already signed up and when she checked, she found there was no order on the computer system, so I gave all the details again and was told again that the welcome pack, modem and CD would be 7 to 10 days.

The first I knew that Talk Talk was going to take over my phone line was when I had a letter from BT on the 22nd June to tell us of the line change, I had still not received the welcome pack.
So I decided to cancel, because I was not happy about the service I had received so far. So that same day (22nd) I called talk talk to cancel the order, which was then confirmed by the operator that the order would be cancelled and they would not be taking over my phone line.

I called BT on the 26th June to confirm that I would be staying with BT and Talk Talk had cancelled their order only to be told that Talk Talk had not put a stop on it, so BT then placed the stop themselves.

On the 29th June, I tried to access my broadband as I normally did, but could not get any internet services, I then dialled 150 to be shocked to find that I went through to Talk Talk, I spoke to a guy called Fabian who told me it would be disconnected and to contact BT to be reconnected, He also stated that I would NOT be charged for anything. When I called BT they told me that whilst they stopped the Talk Talk order, Talk Talk then placed a second order in behind.

I then had to contact Talk Talk on a number of occasions and on the 2nd July I spoke to Zane who then put me on hold whilst he went through to the disconnection team, then came back and told me that they would manually disconnect the phone line straight away. The next day the line was still working, and then on the 5th July I received the welcome pack followed on the 6th July by another welcome pack informing me of my connection date 28th June, but no modem or CD.
I called Talk Talk again on the 6th July spoke to Hannah who told me it would be cancelled etc etc
Called Talk Talk again on the 10th July spoke to Sibu (agent id 335), as I had just received a bill for £25 even though I had been told there would be no charges. Sibu then told me she would get bill stopped and put notes on the account that it should have been cancelled and was very helpful.

Called Talk Talk again on the 13th July spoke to Subi, who then put me through to Ray (team 38) at disconnections and cancellations, who the finally disconnected the line and told me it would take up to 14 days.

Whilst this was going on I had to cancel my broadband with Tiscali, which ended up costing me two months payment as well as making a payment to BT for services that I could not use as Talk Talk had taken over my phone line even though I had cancelled."

Well that was sent two weeks ago and no reply and now we have just had the final demand or else letter, so it looks like I am going to have to take it further, any advise please ?
