looks rubbish. 00's mainstream bands which Radio 1 think are good does not stand for 40 years of music. they should release tracks by the original artists, but i suppose that's not cool enough for radio 1 and the mainstream public since they want to listen to Rihanna and Kate Nash.

Radio 1 lost it ages ago. It's to commercial these days each show is about the same and the presenters are such fakes trying to be "cool" to listners.

I hope Radio 2 doesn't turn like it's couson.

Radio 1 really is irrelevant now.

If I spent a whole month trying to compile the worst covers album ever, I still couldn't come up with anything as bad as that.

Rather sums up Radio 1's contribution to music over the last decade and a half; pseudo-style over any substance.

Ghastly.

How would you improve it then? And remember, it has to sell more than 100 copies

Choose better artists and also choose better songs to cover. Simple really .

Well, I was hoping for some examples

(especially from you Delgado. You normally do a better job of explaining *why* you don't like something. )

I'm trying to imagine in my mind just what a band as unsubtle as Editors could do to The Cure's beautiful. delicate 'Lullaby'

I really don't think I want to hear it.

lol, well the possibilities are endless for an album like that aren't they?....which makes the choice of songs/artists all the more baffling .

So im the only one who thinks it looks good then. I loved the Radio 1 Live Lounge album, its great hearing bands sing songs out of their league, it often works, some great examples were Arctic Monkeys - Love Machine and The Automatic - Gold Digger.

Looking forward to hearing Kasabian doing Too Much Too Young, but, The Fratellis attempting All Along The Watchtower, one of the best covers of all time by the great Jimi Hendrix?

I'm looking forward to it.

Sounds good.
It seems that they gave the biggest acts free choice basically on a song from any year from the past 40. Then the rest had to choose a song from the years that were left.
Some songs I really can't wait to hear and the rest still sound pretty good.
Love Radio 1, just seems some people slag it as a way to make them feel cooler since they are too old themselves to actually like the music or DJs on Radio 1.

And yeah Live Lounge Album was brilliant, Corrine Bailey Rae, Munich was immense and Natasha Bedingfield Scientist amazing.
I think theres another Live Lounge Album due aswell as the birthday CD so will be good.

Each to their own, personally it bored me to tears! Munich is a great song with loads of energy, I know 'mellow' is her style but.. Just didn't work for me!
