Experience of T-Mobile Retentions:
Hi i don't have much experience with T-Mobile retentions, i'm vodafone myself:
My friend is on flext 35 for which she is paying £27.50pcm. Her bills are around £90pcm because of all the international calls she makes. A couple of months to go now until upgrade and she's wondering what she can expect.... she's mentioned the iPhone.... I'm just curious what they might give her, i remember tmobile weren't very generous with existing customers a couple of years ago, has that changed??? n |

Not looking good for staying with t-mobile at the moment,I will be gone from their awful network come december too, unless they offer me something unbeleivable... I doubt they will so its off back to 3 again for my second contract. |

I got offered £15.00 per month off my bill if I kept my old phone (which I was happy to do).

There is nothing wrong with T-Mobile..they are really no worse than any of the networks, and I should know I've been on them all. If anything they screw 02 and ornage into the ground. 02 were utterly trash when I was with them and their automated service was a joke...in fact they didn't have one!! It was impossible to keep track of the bills. T-Mobile have an easy to navigate automated service so you always know where you are. In fact out of all the contracts I have had T-Mobile have always been the best.

So you don't think they'll offer her anything???
She wants a new handset. Personally i think a £90pcm customer would be worth splashing aout on a bit. We know what the mark-up is on international calls. As i say ideally she'd like an iPhone for free. i'd give her one if i was them. how do T-mobile calculate their upgrade allowances??? n |

T-Mobile cancelclations/retentions are a joke.
I had a a contract with them for 12 months a few years back and then to upgrade time I called to get an upgrade and i asked for a nokia 6230 and they were like yeh that will cost you £140 for an upgrade and I was £29 a month tariff at the time I eventually got them down to £100 on the upgrade and paid the cash they said I could upgrade on the phone or go into a store. I went into a store think was an independent at the time they said yeh no probs lets get your details up etc Got my phone and signed up to my new 12 month deal! When my 12 months was up I wanted to cancel and move to another network but they said I was on an 18 month deal I was like no I have it written here and signed it was 12 months in the shop and they would not cancel my deal even although it was 12 months! Said it was a verbial agreement I said you get me audio then I have black and white and that will stand in a court of law! A total joke of a company trying to con you so they can rip you off! Think I would have paid £100 to upgrade when it was free on serveral other networks and be stuck for 18 months they are buttened up the back! |

As a light user, I was offered absolutely nothing apart from one of those black and white Nokias on the same contract I have now. So I changed to Three, where I got a free phone and a cheaper monthly contract. It's a no brainer.

Each customer has a customer value. Based on length of service, (that sounds rather silly) I mean how long you have been with them, how much your bills are etc, the highest customer "spend" is £300 discount for an upgrade, but I have NEVER seen one of those accounts. If your on a Flext 35 but you are likely to get £180-200 off an upgrade. The customers who are 'still valued' but dont get as much as those that are on ufix with line rental discount, or line rental discount in general. Personally I think it rather sucks how they calculate things, a customer I was speaking to had been with us for 10 years and was rewarded generously for being so and had £280 discount but as she had accepted £15 line rental discount last term, her customer value dropped from the highest to the lowest purely because she accepted the discount. Now because of her 'value' she only had the option to continue with the discount OR pay RRP for a handset, its a joke really.

Since nobody seems to have got it, the snag is that there's no such thing as the iPhone in this country yet, and we don't even know a launch date or which network will carry it. By all accounts, it's about £250 with a £30/month contract in the US and I'd be surprised if it was cheaper here. Apple control the pricing of their products quite tightly and wouldn't allow it to be given away.
