Thinking of going back on Three (3)

17-08-2007
My contract is due up in the next month or so and am now looking around at the contract market. I have seen contracts from Three (3) @ £15 per month for 250 minutes and 50 texts. This is the best deal I have seen so far and was wondering what existing users of three think of them. Would you recommend going with them? I was with them 18 months ago, but left due to the size of the phones (like a brick) but now ive seen a couple which look really funky (Nokia e65)

HELP!!!!

Been with them myself now for 9 months

No problems so far - all seems good

Had a Nokia 6280 which was poor so have changed to a Sony Ericcson K610i - smart little phone

3G phones tend to drain the battery quicker so would advise you stick with Sony handsets as better battery life

It's up to you of course but I'd steer clear of 3.

I took out a contract last Sunday and they entered my details incorrectly on the credit check. Of course it came back as refused. I paid the deposit. (BAD MOVE I know) Got home and noticed the discrepencies (wrong address and DOB)

Went back on the Tuesday and they gave me my deposit back and cancelled the contract even though I had used some textes and obviously activated the sim.

In their favour they held their hands up and took responsibilty for their error.

Pissed up my credit rating though, which I now have to sort out.

My advice is make sure you can see the computer screen as they enter your details.

Not just once bitten, but twice and I have had PAYG 3 cards to check for improvements but as yet not convinced it's on par with the integrated 3G/GSM networks.

You never get a bargain and I went with 3 twice because the price was really attractive. Sadly I found you get what you pay for (poor customer service, vanishing texts, dropping calls etc), and whilst I like the look of the cheaper deals now on offer on 3 (with good handsets too), I think I will pay a little extra to get the service level I am used to. Depending on your usage pattern some deals actually beat 3's best offers. Check out T-Mobile's Flext deals with free evening and weekend calls and Vodafone's deals with Stop the Clock. Both offer ultra cheap evening and weekend calls and leave your inclusive minutes intact for daytime use. Orange offer free Broadband and unlimited texts and calls on some of their deals too.

They phoned me 16 months into my 18 month contract and offered me half price line rental, a N73, 12 month contract with a new phone in the 9th month. Said I was looking at the E65, they said no problem, so I took the E65 and it is only a 12 month contract as I quite like the look of the nokia navigator and communicator and will see what they offer me to stay.

I like three for the signal, never had many problems except in areas where no operator has a signal. So far it is the only network that gives me a full strength signal deep in the bowels of my local Asda.

Look at all the posts and take into account each opinion and also see what you can get out of Three on a new contract - haggle!

whats the likelihood of t mobile giving me a good retention deal? The main problem I can foresee is that I havent been in work for near on 13 months due to illness so money coming in has been fluctuating monthly. Am I likely to get a new contract whilst Im on Incapacity benefit?

I would guess that as long as you have paid and pay your contract, no operator would give two hoots where the money comes from.

I got ticked off with O2 because they wanted £80 to upgrade me to the phone I liked. I got a better deal on the same phone with O2 from a high street dealer, the downside was I had to change my number. When I phoned O2 to cancel my original contract, they said they would have matched the deal. The moral of the story is haggle with everyone to get the deal that suits you.
P4U gave me a £150 for free because I wouldn't budge on paying a penny for it and I was ready to walk out of the shop.

When this contract is up I will see what they offer, but will look for the deal that suits me with the phone I like, even though I like Three, I would consider changing, except to T-Mobile as the signal at home is poor and I would want web'n'walk.

Don't forget - Haggle!
