Hi all,

Just joined as i was hoping someone could shed some light on my problem.

For over a week now i have been suffering from the above problem, but only when i am at home (Braintree, Essex). I am unable to make or recieve calls/texts when in or around my home area. Often it says "No access to network" but other times it says Vodafone UK and i am still unable to make a call, the phone makes the call but never connects and throws it back to the phone book/call list.

The problem however is random, and sometimes works. More often though it does not work. If i am in the next town etc i have no problems whatsoever.

My phone is a Sony Ericson W850i and i am a Vodafone PAYT customer. I have phoned Vodafone 3 times now and have been told 3 different things:

1. My number bank 07787 is at fault at the moment.
2. My phone could be faulty.
3. The mast is faulty (power problem i think).

I've tried the sim in other phones and they work fine, but these phones are not 3G, i am wondering if this is related to the problem.

Anyway, if anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

John

Sounds like your area has a problem with it's 3G network - maybe set your 3G phone to GSM only, so it cannot connect to the none working 3G network?

I tried that just before i read your reply and it has actually worked, i found the setting while attempting a manual network search.

Thankyou for your reply, your advice was spot on.
